    Hey anybody into recording?

I would like to know what the best software around for that is and I need to be able to make drum tracks and keyboard tracks.

What is the best p2p to use when downloading?

i had one of these (selling it now) : http://ie.europe.creative.com/shop/product.asp?prod=512

It comes with cubase (good program for recording mixing) and fruity loops, which is a very easy to use drum machine.

I recently got one of these: http://ie.europe.creative.com/shop/product.asp?prod=602 and its the absolute business. Comes with the same software bundle, just more ins and outs really. sound clarity from both is excellent.

    Hi there,

don't know exactly what you want to do and what exactly you know. Also, it's a few years since I was messing around with this idea, so, I'm open to correction or updated info.

The software I used to use was Cubasis, it's a while back now, and I think that entry level Cubase is Cubase SE, which should retail at around 149E according to Steinberg. It's worth looking at their website, www.steinberg.net if you're really interested in this idea.

As I wasn't too serious about this, I used the standard soundcard that was in my PC at the time plus an external mic. I got on okay with both. If you're talking electric guitar, you're outside my field of experience. For my acoustic I used the mic rather than the internal pick up.

So I reckon the absolute minimum you're going to need will be computer/soundcard/mic. Obviously if you're really serious about this, you'll probably have to look at buying a decent soundcard and I know pretty much nada about them. As for running in drums and bass tracks, can't help you there.

Probably worth looking around for a mag called computer music, I know Easons used to stock it - they had fairly decent tutorials and usually a cover CD with some demo software, banks of midi files and the like. It's not absolutely clear to me what you want to do, so more than this I can't really offer.

    You need this baby: http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/news_story/a/news_id/e/19
    Tascam US122

It can even power a condenser mic and has your standard pro mic connection as well as regular 1/4" jacks for electric guitars/older mics etc. No external power required, works off a standard PC USB connection. Trez cool. Gonna get this when I start audio recording!
