Just watching the reaction to it now, but I missed the main event itself.

just shows the influence films have on my expectation of things!!
it was all very *polite*....interesting none the less.
although they did say that the guy wasnt exactly possessed.

I was watching it. TBH, I was a bit disappointed. I thought there'd be spirits flying out of him. But then, as peachypants said, just goes to show the influence movies have on people. (including myself)

Well here was me expecting revolving heads and green puke.
What I got was an hour of some guy who claimed he has some sort of sprit possesion, being prayed over by 3 different priests whilst hooked up to a brain wave detector.
Nothing conclusive and a lot of talking but no magic answers...

Good reading on that page about all aspects of exorcism...

Wow, I stayed up late to watch this drivel... tbh, I was expecting to see at least a mentally disturbed person, not a calm, placid man who belonged to a Christian cult group, being 'delivered' by his minister. Channel 4 built it up so much, with an hour long documentary on the 'real exorcist', that was the case which inspired the movie, and had warning that only adults should watch the live exorcism, and that if anyone was disturbed they could call the C4 helpline specially set up to help traumatised viewers.

Then, they talk to priests from different faiths, and scientists (ie. priests of the science faith ;)), to the guy being exorcised, his smug-appearing minister, and then.... the live exorcism... which lasts about 1.5 minutes, and consists of the minister pressing into the guys stomach, talking something about Jesus, and the hell possessed demoniac calmly states 'oh I feel better now'.

Jaysus..... Apparently demons are responsible for all human vices and weaknesses, and in this case, the victim had his 'fear' exorcised.... hmmm right................

Huge build up and anticlimax. The scientific analysis shows an altered brain state (very slightly altered), which can be achieved naturally through meditation or hypnosis anyway.

i watched the first few minutes of it, up until the point when the guy describes when the demon first enterd his body as he was driving down the road and possessed his leg so he couldn't take his foot off the accellerator pedal ,thats called leg cramp mate happens to lots of people. to be honest i was already suspicious he was a gibbering loony anyway.

I didnt see it but the thread remided me of that Anna Nolan show about spirits and stuff. She met up with some guy who said the house was possessed. The got some woman in to "exorcise it" and it went a bit like this.

Woman :There is definitely a presence here
Woman : Go leave this place
Woman : OK they are gone
Woman : Now give me my money.

The guy actually believed this drivel. It was funny.
