Actually a T77A. Much, much rarer.

That looks like a Ferrari 250 GT that crossbred with a Fiat Spyder.

    Not a clue.

Ok, i'll give you a few.

You've correctly spotted some similarities in the lines, but in fact the car is not European at all, however the car was designed by a famous Italian designer AND built by an Italian car maker

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Looks more like a cross between an Alfa Romeo Spyder and a Datsun 240Z to me :)

    Any more hints, Paul?

Designed by Franco Scaglietti. Worth while doing on a search on him alone, because he designed some real beauties!!!

Cars were instructed to be built by two American blokes, who consequently paid the Italian coach builder of the cars with a Dud Cheque!!!! (interesting link to a topic in the Motors section :D , except that this one was probably worth a couple of million)...

see if that gets you anywhere

Must be the bastard child of a Ferrari 275 GTS. If it's not Pininfarina lines - they should get their lawyers out ;)

But we can all say what it looks like...

Would it have anything to do with Hoffman or Chinetti ?

Just a stab in the dark !

    Deffo Pinninfarina lines !

    Right so, It's a Intermeccanica Apollo. http://www.intermeccanica.org/
I see that Scaglietti designed the 250GT, so at least there was a vague recognition.

There were only 11 convertibles made. How far are we going in this game?

@Paul - you a mate of Joop Stolze then? And did you see his '64 5000GT?

Excellent Alastair! Big cigar to you, Sir!

Well, unkel, I'm just trying to present seemingly very difficult cars, that have relationships with other more famous cars, and that serve as a "learning exercise" for the contestants. :)
Like the misconception that all Ferrari's are designed by Pininfarina, whereas in fact, there were a host of other designers doing exactly the same thing!!! Scaglietti being a very important one!!

By the way, funny you mentioned it looked like a "chevy scaglietti vette", because as soon as that cheque bounced at "Carrozeria Intermecchanica", the swiss/italian coach builder, they kept all the remaining cars, and sold them to a rich Texan banker, who then started selling the cars as the "Vetta Ventura".
