Can anyone tell me some good airlines that do flights to Canada? Preferably pretty cheap. I know charters are cheaper but I don't really know any. Ebookers want €1100 abd USIT are about €620.

Where in Canada? It'll be about 800 ish to go to the West coast...
There's a budget airline that flies from Glasgow, I think their name is Zoom, they're pretty cheap. a1fares.ie are always good for cheap flights too.

dublin-vancouver €715 [on june 1st] including tax with usit just got some quotes. on another note usit make you buy there top level insurance package which cost €156 for 3 months if you are going on the canadian visa program, if you want to get your own then you have to buy there package, get your own then send the policy to them so they can look at it and make sure its adequate and if it is then they refund you the policy cost [- €30 handeling fee] they dont tell anybody this and they dont make it too obvious that you have to fly with them either. its costing me quite a bit more than i expected [€1236 in total] and its all very badly organised by usit,it all has to go through there call center you cant book anything online it took me 35mins to book the flight and i could only do it for myself and not the other lads.i am not too impressed by usit at all

I'm just going on a two week holiday to Toronto so I'm not after a visa. I have insurance already so I don't want any that they sell.

Check out airtransat.com - I think they run flights during the summer from Dublin to Toronto

Air Transat flights from Ireland can be booked online at http://www.globespan.co.uk.
It may also be worth your while to check out a flight to a major US city, and get another cheap flight to Canada with Air Canada, Jetsgo or Westjet.

I booked my ticket a few hours ago. If only you'd booked it for a day earlier you'd have saved nearly 300 quid. My ticket to Vancouver for May 31st came to nearly e800(inclusive of tax) with an additional e150 for insurance. A grand total of e950 or there about.

but the dublin-vancouver was only €715 [on june 1st] including tax.
the one i booked was Shannon-London-Vancouver [on june 1st] and LA-London-Shannon for €730 on [August 31st] +€156 3* insurance + €350 for the working visa

I just checked that site and it was very cheap. ABout E470.00 for June which is a lot cheaper than the others plus it is direct over and only stop in Dublin on the way back. In comparison to London with Aer Lingus/Air Canada.

Have anyone ever flown with this crowd? Any feedback? I dunno am i very negative and just having a case of "if it sounds too good to be true, it is".

    Thanks folks.

I understand now. My ticket is Dublin-London-Vancouver on May 31st then the return journey on September 10th. Which came to nearly e950 with the insurance package included, but once I add the price of the visa I end up paying a similar figure to you.

Irishguy, are you waiting until you arrive in Vancouver to look for accommodation or are you trying to arrange it now before you go? I'm just curious as to what would be the better option. We don't want to book a place that sounds great on the net, but once we get there it ends up being a kip. But on the other hand we don't want to go there and still be looking for accommodation well into the third week then having to settle for paying ludicrous money for something crap.

i am going to wait till i go over the only place i found that would take online bookings is st.andrews in UBC but they are expensive. having a look at http://www.canada.com/vancouver/vancouversun/index.html and there seem to be more reasonably priced accommodation in the kitsilano area but you can only book it over there. there are 6 of us going over there so we should find it fairly fast.

Also does anyone know the story with the usit insurance with regards to flying you home for repeat exams. do they fly you back as well? and i suppose they ask for proof that you failed your exams?
