I was on ebaumsworld.com downloading videos. after getting about 50, firefox said it couldn't find ebaumsworld.com. since then i haven't been able to connect at all. looking at the log of the router on the wired pc shows these warnings:
    [ 9] Monday, February 21, 2005 19:56:04 Intruder found on TCP port (617) from 213.172.62.165 (48773)

    [ 15] Monday, February 21, 2005 19:53:34 Intruder found on TCP port (4662) from 80.126.145.171 (48623)

they're all me trying to connect. as you can see, i'm suddenly classed as an intruder and my ip keeps changing. wtf is going on please?

I've tried the wireless dongle in both pcs now and it can't connect on either so its not a virus. i'm stumped because i don't want to think of buying new hardware

Could be the server is configured to stop bandwidth whoring (like what you're doing).

If it's that, it'll reset after a fixed period, maybe, or worst case scenario; you're IP banned.

ebaumsworld.com has probably banned your ip addy or ip block. I'd wait a few days before going back to that site. Or else get them from a mirror. The ebaumsworld.com stuff is all over the web anyways.

...just to add that I have no idea why your IP address is shifting like that, unless you disconnected/reconnected and your IP is dynamic...you scan for trojans?

i did scan for trojans but it can't be that because I tried the dongle in two pcs and it didn't work in either. It's not just ebaumsworld.com that isn't working. It's the whole internet. I'm fairly sure its a hardware problem. I think there was a power surge or something last night because the lights dimmed for a second across at least a two mile area. My friend was supposed to bring in his dongle to college today for me to try it but the lazy $&"*!^% didn't come in. I'll let you all know how i get on with it

Is a dongle not a hardware protection device?

I think dongle came from the idea that it hangs down or sticks out and you plug one end of it onto something else. Sounds good to me anyhows :p
Maybe a combination of dangle and dong?
