    Hi,

I'm lookn to apply for the air corps in one or two years but have heard that its really hard to get in as there are only six places up for grabs every year.

Dose anyone know of anything I can do to improve my chances of getting in, such as courses etc?

get yours eyes tested, if theyre not near perfect then forget about it.
No point waiting 2 years to be rejected like that

If you relay want to improve your chances join the FCA now, then when it comes around to applying you will have 2 years done with the FCA

Membership in the Reserve automatically entitles you to an additional 7% in your interview for Cadetship. Though, ideally, if you have a Degree you'll be entitled to 10% which is quite helpful.

Bear in mind if you have both you'll only be given the 10%, not 17%.

I'd say a career as an officer would be quite rewarding.

Im assuming its the cadets you want to go for?

Ring Baldonnel and talk to them, get a tour of the place.
Join the FCA/RDF (you must be 17)
Be carefull how much flying experience you get too far down the road to getting licence and it may go against you (they prefer to teach you their way, no bad habits).

Do you know anyone in the Air Corp that you can talk to as well?

Specfic degrees that they want/need have a look at military.ie

Some degrees do give you the additional 'edge' but that's not put down on paper as an automatic score. They basically want someone who's 'matured' and they see that through a third level qualification (Where they get the idea of maturity I'll never know..).

In reality it's the DoD telling the Army/Navy/Air Corps that they want to save money by not sending recruits to UCG.
