I have a 42" Plasma Panasonic TH-42PWD (Silver) 4000:1 contrast ratio Video Input board TY-42TM6Y S video, Comp Video, RGBH/V, Comp Video and Comp Out Split screen function. It is my main TV , where its hooked up to an NTL digibox
It has a standard PC monitor D connection, ie it is a big PC monitor.
My PC is based upstairs while my TV(monitor) is downstairs. Can anyone advise on a wireless system that will allow me to have a keyboard and mouse set up downstairs so i can use the internet and game remotely. I.e a gismo that will give me monitor quailty def on the TV along with wireless keyboard and mouse as a side note I'd need the mouse to be decent enough for gaming , similar to the logitech Mx700 series speedwise.

I dont think the digital TV wireless units would be good enough to get the most from graphics card. The card had two DVI connections (one being used on the monitor I still need upstairs)

Anyone any Ideas- posting this in Home entertainment and Computers as it overlaps, I know that some mods might have an issue with this, if so then delete the thread/sorry.

    Regards

    Stoner

Alternative idea is to put a crappy computer downstairs as a "dumb terminal" with a wireless connection to the machine upstairs. Latency might be an issue when gaming though.

thinking about it, id suggest the oposite of khannie

put the good pc downstairs under the tv
put a crappy remote box upstairs for browsing / officey stuff

that way youll get the best from your tv for gaming and still have a pc upstairs

    Genius.

Yeah, much better idea. If you're willing to have it in the living room that is. High end PC's can be a bit noisy.

A dumb terminal could be picked up for next to nothing. You could even have one that runs off a cd (i.e. no hard drive). Stick linux on it and use vnc to access the PC downstairs (You'd see a windows desktop).

thanks for the ideas, might have to do that, the dvi wireless option seems to be line of sight, this is not really suitable, the monitor/TV is only VGA, but i think i can get a DVI card for it , at the moment i have an s video and comp inputcard and a RGB card, the VGA inputs are built into it.

decided that I'm not puting my good PC downsatirs, spent to much time pimping it to put it under the TV, plus all my temp controls are on a display on its front panel and cant be accessed by sw. I'll continue to look for the wireless option, there must be one arround somewhere, someone had to have had this idea before me, i'm usually about a year behind everyone else.

don't know if you can buy wireless kvw extenders that'd be any good, depends on how fast it'd be but if you do have the chance to put an ethernet cable down you could do it over ethernet - should be fast enough

Long time no see elmer, still x boxing away ? Guess the best thing would be a mega VGA lead and a switch box. My house does not really suit additional cabling though, CAT 6 or otherwise, solid con floor and walls downstairs and wooden floors laid upstairs, only option would be to use the chimney and put it out of action.
Chalk I saw your link alright , but 1300 is too much and it is line of sight, but i want to get from my box room upstairs to my living room downstairs. so its too expensive and it wont do the jobn (unless i read it wrong)

no no, that was my point,
the wireless option is ridiculously expensive for dvi,
youll be waiting a few years before its suitable.
a few hundred euro seems likely to get you a big length of dvi cable.
maybe run it out a window, downstairs and then back in?

Just a quick reminder, the plazma only has the d type VGA connections on it at the moment,
I use the RGB for a HDTV signal from my DVD player
