That has to be one of the most pathetic news stories I have ever read, since the one in a tabloid about a man, who left his job, returned 20 odd years later, and his overcoat was still in his locker, .. . . who gives a F%*K??

I want to read about Mary Harney being chased down Grafton St by a pack of blood thirsty Rottweilers, or Brian McFadden being caught sleeping with his Ma.

FACT: 97% of people think that Mary Harney looks like Eric Cartman.

The Limerick Leader is notorious for abysmal pathetic stories. I do recall one particular artcle which was accompanied by a photo of a girl tearing up a lotto ticket. It read.... "Girl unlucky with lotto"..... (the gist being, that she didnt win the lotto). Sweet jesus

Genius idea, do you think that I can sell them my story as it has happened to me numerous times that I have not won the Lotto?

Maybe it's Ireland's answer to The Onion?

The lotto girl story, is definitely Onion worthy.

I can see it now... Bottles of Yop stashed away under the counter like the ciggies and scratch cards...
The 'Ra will probably start laundering money through 'Red Yop' that will be manufactured through dodgy rural factories and transported in fake multinational oil tankers.. and truckloads of the stuff will be highjacked in audacious robberies....

I recall seeing an artical on the front page of "Nord Bayrenisch Kourier" about how a car was stolen in the local village. I beleive it caused a bit of a stir !!!

My favourite is reading the Longford Leader.
I remember reading small articles about a 'robbery' whereby a local womens cakes that were left on the window ledge to cool were stolen.

    It's legendary stuff sometimes...

Perhaps a new thread for "whackiest local news stories" (and quote sources) could be made

How can you have constipation and diarrhoea at the same time, as that article seems to be suggesting?

Get a drug habit and find out! :D

Seriously though, that article claims LSD as an addiction. I mean WTF? It's probably about the only non-addictive drug out there.
When I first opened this thread I was expecting a story about thieves stealing the yoghurts to put hash in em; that's what a yoghurt should be used for...

    Also, €1.35 for a f**king Yop???

My sister lives in guernsey, she brought the local paper home at christmas and the front page story was about a young fella who grew a large tomato. It wasn't even that big...

that story is fantastic , the drug lords of limerick going into londis and straight to their target , a yop each to settle their stomachs , ah i love it , should get nationwide down to do a piece on that :D

The yogurts are sold at €1.35 each,
    Someone mention robbery?

I didn't know Gleeson's had undercover security types. The shop isn't all that big (it's only up the road from me so it's my designated "crap, it's 9:30 and I've no frigging bread" source)
