    looks like it's Salford, I didn't think it was about any where in Ireland, we have gasworks but we wouldn't call them that, if it was Dublin the line would be "I meet my love by the gasometer wall" :)

    Being a true blue Dub myself I can confirm to you without hesitation that it is none other than ..... Salford.

    (although for a while there I'd heard it was about Liverpool)
