Bit vague as questions go. What kind of laptop do you want? Something reasonably cheap? Something light enough you can carry it under your arm or on your head without pain? Something you can play Doom 3 on? Something adequate for MS Office and interweb activities?

Point to one or two of the above and you'll probably get recommendations galore from the boards netizens. Just don't say you want something cheap as chips that weighs almost nothing that you can play all the latest games on through 2008. We all want one of those. Battery life has improved immensely since I bought my current laptop a few years ago so while keeping that in mind (and probably recommending something with a Pentium-M chip off the bat) most notebooks these days come with what could be regarded as a good battery.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I've a vague question too. I want to know people's thought's on the most reliable laptops, I'm having lots of trouble with my Compaq crashing on me. I will be running it off mains, not battery, and will be using XP pro. Many thanks.
