You could ask something a bit more specific than that.

The institute, well hhmmmm, Only go if you are actually going to work hard, otherwise its a big waste of money! The place does not work miracles, and don't belive all that sh*** bout the teachers seein the exam papers, they don't. The staff are all pretty sound and will do their very best to help you with any problem you may have. The days are long, the mornings early, and the work hard, but it does have a very competitive atmosphere which really makes you work hard.I can't think of much else to write bout at the moment.....

i went there for grinds over christmas and i was NOT impressed by the seat/desk in one combination, the seats are the most uncomfortable things ever! i had serious back pains all the time, there are better ways of keeping you from falling asleep.......

I did one of those week long revision courses there in Maths and Chemistry and it was good like, they gave us some good notes as well (I dunno if I'd call them 'legendary' like they do in their ads though!) I know a few people who went through sixth year there and they all did really well, but they were pretty competitive people - I think you have to be motivated

It's a very liberal school. At the end of the day it's up to you whether you want to put in the effort or not, so they're not going to be down your neck every second of the day (although they do examine your progress and bring any negative doings to your attention).

The teachers are, for the most part, excellent (and you'll actually enjoy learning from some of them). The only real bad aspect is the ridiculous expense, but for me though, it was worth it. It's the kind of atmosphere I want and can work in (makes up for the shoddy chairs I guess).

tbh, I didn't find it competitive at all. There's such a range of students with greatly differing abilities, that there was(for me) in fact a lot less 'competition'.

It is definately true that getting your course/result isn't a 'sure thing' but needless to say, having the right climate does indeed help alot.

If you don't put in the work, you will be screwed come examtime. Many of the people I know who coasted through sixth year, (relying solely on the strength of the classes, etc) were bitterly disoppointed by their result.
For me i think it was one part school and two parts study, that helped me get what i wanted.

The most suitable thing to say about the institute is that it is different things to different people: your results, social life, etc there depend completely upon the attitude you have and the effort you put in.

By and large, the teachers are excellent. there are a couple of muppets who make you wonder how the hell they got a job there, but these are really few and far between. the great thing about the place is that if your teacher is 'bad' or, you merely don't like them, in the majority of cases you can switch class at the drop of a hat early in the year.

the flexible timetable is good if you want to take your lunch at a certain time or if you are late or whatever.

contrary to what alot of people say about the teachers, they do care about the students. towards the end of the year, one let me join a friday grind for free, which i really appreciated.

I def second that , I was also there are xmas (maybe I was in some of your classes finch........?) and the seats are soooooooo uncomfortable!! Jebus! Neway I got the feeling from the atmosphere that everything was very much left up to yourself and you have to have a bit of drive and actually want to be there to do well. Having said that I have a really laid back friend (who's also really intelligent!) who has gone there for 6th year and he loves it. Then again maybe that's cuz he wants to do medicine or something else with crazy points..............

    :)
