do anybody use ripwave on linux?

    hi,
    can u help me, i use IBB ripwave usb modem on linux, but i can't connect internet, i think Linux try make connection through ethernet adapter, but it is unusefull. can anybody tell me how configure linux to use usb modem instead of ethernet.

    i think you might as well return it and get an ethernet one - much easier, uses less resources and much more reliable both on windows and linux.

    I agree with Red Alert. I would return it, it's a bit of a balls to have to return it but it'll save you alot of hassle.

    However, sjones and RedAlert advised you as above because there are no Linux drivers for the Ripwave USB modem. In other words, the only solution is to write your own drivers - that would certainly lead to a lot of knowledge!

    I use it ripwave fine with Linux (Fedora Core 3 and Knoppix) cos I've got the Ethernet modem. just looks like a lan to linux. besides which, I have an ethernet port, thats what it's for. USB should not be used for networking, it should be for stuff like memory card readers and other such devices which don't work with my ethernet port. ditto usb keyboards and mice - fu(k that - I have ps2 ports on my machine for them - not going to use USB for that.
