Atari Jaguar?

Why do people put Atari Jaguar as an option in polls?

I assume it started as some kind of bad joke, but now through it's constant use, surely any humour that people found in it has gone.

Is it now that it has become some kind of moronic tradition here?

People aren't scared of it... but a lot of people on the boards use it as a final option in their polls, for those who don't really have an opinion but want to vote anyway... for de laff.

    e.g.:

Who will win the general election:

FF, FG, SF, PD's, Greens, Atari Jaguar

okay .. so what you're telling me is that having an atari jaguar option in your poll is the same as having a "this is a stupid pointless poll" option?

    is that it?

lets not be overly-simplistic here. Atari Jaguar is not just a bad joke that became a tradition. Its more infitting with some of Shakespeare's tragi-comedies. The fall from grace of once great being. The ridiculously sublime. It is many things to many people - some bad, some good - but it never fails to exert an emotion.

No, it's a crap joke gone stale (at least in my opinion). It's like phoning in to a Richard and Judy to say "I don't have an opinion" .. a waste of time.

I get it now! .. sorry ... I realise what it's actually for. Its so people can feel clever without actually having to think of a clever post of their own ... I see how blind I was.

I think we need a poll on this along the lines of:

    Is atari jaguar stupid?

    1. Yes
    2. No
    3. Atari Jaguar <<<<<<

Good - but I feel it would be better....

    Atari Jaguar?

    1. Atari Jaguar
    2. Atari Jaguar
    3. Atari Jaguar

It's a more interesting way of saying 'Other / Undecided / Don't know / Don't care'. Nothing wrong with that.

Wasn't there something before Atari Jaguar (the poll option I mean)? I seem to recall something, can't remember what though...

ROFL...of all the examples you could have given...why Richard and Judy!!! :D

Why so annoyed at atari jaguar? Why do you even give a fook? Just ignore it!! :p

but people put in those type of options anyway! Atari Jaguar seems to be there for people who don't have an opinion, or just don't care and just want to click on a button.

thought of Richard and Judy because it was such a waste of time for people to ring up and saying they don't know, or don't have an opinion. It was pointless for them to do so. Just a waste of time and money.

The same with Atari Jaguar, it's like ringing up Richard and Judy, and saying I don't care. A waste of time.

I think we should add "Cactus Col" to all polls from now on, as the short option for saying "I think this is a pile of unimportant ****".

How about 'Atariactus Jaguar - because it's a really bad joke'

Maybe if Cactus Col is lucky, he'll become as lengendary as the Atari Jaguar.

Just think in years to come you'll have newbie asking 'please sir, why is there an atariactus option on each poll?'

ah, if only neg rep was still around.

Why do you feel the need to complain about it, is the real question? Why don't you just ignore it if it bothers you?

Why is there an increasing trend of people moaning about nothing here?

    two answers to that one:

their life is perfect and this is the only fly in the ointment
    or
    they have no life

The above suggestions could be used in the case of a poll where Atari Jaguar is a legitimate selection, such as Which is the best Console ever made? Its good to have a contingency plan just in case. ;)

I wonder why people always think there's an increase int he amount of moaning - I reckon the moaning levels have always been consistently high.

or some sort of stupid tradition like getting lots of people to parade down the streets of your town wearing green on the 17th of march....

Yes, but the moaning used to be about specific things. Now it's just moaning for the sake of it. Now I'm moaning about the moaners, see? Too much moaning and not enough love, that's what I say.
