Right A friend rang me up awhile ago with a problem. Whenever she writes a cd using windows Media player or Nero it stops half way, with a fatal error, The computer restarts, comes up with a microsoft error, and ok buttom. I know thats now much info but thats all i got off her. Computer is a yr old with XP.

Well first off, it would probably be a good idea to disable Auto Restart.
    Control Panel >> Performance & Maintenance >> System >>
System Properties >> Advanced tab >> Startup and Recovery Settings and disable Auto Restart in Failure section.

In future, instead of a restart will be an infamous Blue Screen with an error code.

Sounds like a drastic measure tbh. You may if you don't mind reinstalling all the drivers and Service Packs etc, afterwards :o

Look at the speed that is set to write. Try a slower speed. I have found this in the past
