This might be of interest to some people. Aldi Netherlands are selling a 20GB portable music storage device (Medion brand) as of today. This may well be on sale in Ireland next week (although I think you have Aldi-South there, so the offers might be different).

To see it, go to www.aldi.nl, click on "Aldi-Actueel, vanaf 16.02.2005"

Apologies if this doesn't make it to Ireland or if the product is a pile of cack.

i think they were clearing stock, as soon as it went up in bargain alerts i reserved 2, for 215 euro each. when i went down and bought 1 she said insurance inc accidental damage would bejust 10.50 (they screwed up was supposed to b 40 euro) i said hey ok il take the insurance so was 225, then she handed me a 20 euro voucher as theres some promotion on at the minute so 205 . to top it off sony sent me 45 dollars worth of vouchers for free downloads from their connect.com shop on registering the unit online. bought the other reserved one the next day. got another 45 dollars worth again.couldnt believe the bargain that it was, will never get it again probably.
top notch machine, mp3 playing ability through a firmware update at 20euro or can convert on the fly to atrac3. sonys drm isnt a bother if u reg the unit online can share songs with upto 7pcs, top notch sound and quality, probably the smallest/ best 20gig music player in the world.

it is in pictures, but not in real life, the brushed magnesium finish is lovely still its 100% jap styling- but who wants a ****ty plastic ipod, really is tiny, the hard disk has a shock protecting g sensor, that pulls the heads off the platters over 1G and has a 25-30hour battery life. the supplied earphones are dirt though.
Oh yeah it has a 1/4 gig of flash ram built in so the hard drive is off most of the time. would recommend the new hd3 even at 400euro over any ipod.

I got a 60 gig Zen Jukebox. It's absolutely amazing! The battery lasts for 2 days straight! I used it one day non stop, next day non stop, and then it was kinda dying with only one block left. I'd reccomend it highly. I wasn't going to post until I saw everyone talkign about the battery life and just had to comment. It holds 32,000 songs!

    32000, at what quality?
ive about 7-8000 at at lame alt preset standard and there at 45 gigs.
id consider that to be the best balance between listenable and size and even then i get some degrading during certain songs

Reminds me of a famous quote

Excellent. I hate when people say things like "It's too big!!!!"
Ok well that sounds a bit bad but you know what I mean.
It's not just an mp3 player, it can be used as a protable HD too, which would make it actually quite small. But very convenient. Im thinkink of getting one myself.
One feature that I would like though is the fm transmitter that can be got with the ipod.. is this available with the zen?

edit: actually just found something- you can just buy an fm transmitter that will plug into the earphone jack and transmit the signal. Great.
