Did anyone care to look at the price VW are charging for their Phaeton?

    http://www.carzone.ie/newcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=Details&uid=2363

They start at around €92k going up to €153k for the W12. eek.gif Have a look at the options list, €182 extra for a fire extinguisher on a €153k car. rolleyes.gif

€15k dearer than a MB S 500 LWB. VW are out of their league..

LOL €153k for a volkswagen. That wouldn't even sell in Ireland unless a tiny chrome mascotte of the spirit of ecstacy is thrown into the bargain

not too crazy in the uk though, start at 40 something and go to 72 there. thats reasonably competitive, hoever it is a vw
anyway no luxury car really keeps its money anyway. one can pick up a 98 old shell s class for buttons. bmw 7s are even cheaper. so buy what u like, still wouldnt buy one :D

The wipers are activated automatically by a rain sensor. This automatically sweeps the screen five seconds after the
last wash to remove any residual droplets. To preserve the life of the wiper blade, after every second parking operation
the wipe arms move upwards a little. This ensures that the wipers rest in the upward position as often as they rest in the downward position
WHO sat down & thought about that little idea...like talk about an utterly pointless feature!

Don't know but they probably figured that it'd be better to reduce the wear as the cost of replacing the wipers, as the are probably non standard and required a genuine VW part, which would be very very expensive. Just like everything VW!

The Phaeton served two purposes, a monument to the ego of former vw chief executive Ferdinand Piech, who wanted to build the best car in the world before his retirement and also as a proving ground for the technology and running gear to be featured in the eternally delayed bugatti veyron.

Looks like he failed with at least one of those objectives...

Poor Ferdinand. His uncle Ferdinand and his grandfather Ferdinand did a lot more with their careers ;)

cars at this price point are about perception of class as much as innovation. the phateon has neither, will be a very heavy depreciator. on another point the audi a8 is not a reliable car why would i buy a vw version of it?
sad to say but these days only car id trust in this league isnt an sclass, the latest 7 series or an a8 its a jaguar or a lexus.
