    Hi,

    Whats the difference between the + and - with DVD writers and DVD's???

    is it something to do with the layers?

    - is more compatible and cheaper than +

    But use google. It is a pain trying to search for stuff here with the 4 letter limit. No LCD or DVD

    the main difference is, that they were developed from two different groups.
    DVD- was authorised as the standard from teh DVD Forum, which includes a certain group of companies.

    DVD+ was developed mainly by Sony, and some other companies, as Sony, was never really a fan on abeying to standards and norms in the media, they both appeared in the mass market.
    It will happen with blue Ray aswell.

    physically DVD+ can hold about 120MB more on a single layer, but as mentioned, at least used to be less compatible to DVD Drives and players.

    these days it hardly makes a difference, but DVD- are normally cheaper aswell
