Shot clock in snooker preimere league

Was watching the snooker preimere league on Sky sports on Friday and I have to say the 25 second timer was really shit. During the Paul Hunter/ Ronnie O'Sullivan match it clearly distracted both players and brought the standard of play down. As Ronnie said afterwards it was like watching a pair of amatures play. I don't think the stop clock gimmick adds anything to the game either, I'd rather wait 30 seconds more and see a good safety shot then see a player get distracted by the annoy bleeping and miss his shot. Also the timeouts didn't seem to work very well, I think Hunter missed nearly every shot he took after calling a timeout. I can understand they need to raise more money from the game but I think the last thing they should be doing is throwing in rules that only distract the players and add nothing to the viewer's pleasure.

Ridiculous idea, thank Christ nobody has thaught of putting this on to the main tour.

It's a total farce, since when has there been a problem with it being at the referees discretion, although I only remember seeing a referee butt-in once to warn a player for slow play.

Probably thanks to the fact that its sponsored by sky and has nothing to do with the main tour, just the fact that there's decent money involved is why there's pro's playing on it. Wouldn't be surprised to see it scrapped in the near future. Even a one-minute timer would be ok but I still disagree with the whole idea.

I was watching this last night and guessed that it was something to do with it's being a live show ever week that Sky didn't want to take the chance of huge overruns eating into thier schedule. Last night was the first time I've seen this tournament and was surprised by the shot clock, I would imagine it's off putting for the players when it reaches the 'beeping' stage.

It does give the games a more 'amatuer' feel though.

I don't really like this timing thing either! It's really annoying to see how the player have to rush and miss balls that they will normally pot with their eyes closed (okay, that's maybe a bit too much to say, but you get the idea ;))

This year is actually the first time I'm able to watch the Premier League as well (thank god for DSF), and I don't think I understand the points system very much. It's just like with football, right? 2 points when you win, 1 with a score of 3 - 3 and 0 when you loose?
