The problem I've got is my Dell laptop (running Win2k Professional Edition).

Before I acquired the laptop it was connected to an office network. he Network Identification Tab in Systems won't allow me to make any changes saying that the network isn't configured correctly.

Can I completely reset the networking information on the machine without a complete rebuild of the laptop?

Are you logged in w/admin privileges?
Open your LAN settings - TCPIP & have it so its automatically assigned an IP & DNs address.
Then open a command prompt & type ipconfig/release, enter
After that type ipconfig/renew, may take a moment.
    Hopefully should sort.
