If you're gonna become a taxi driver ask yourself 3 simple questions:

    (1) Are you a wa*nker ?
    (2) see above
    (3) see above also.

If its three YES's then youre perfect :)

    Get used to:

How long are you on for tonight?
    Many cars on the road?
    Busy are you?
    etc. etc.

Get ready for sky high insurance premiums if you decide to take the plunge!

NCT for taxis is about €90 is it not

you might be required to buy a new car as well.

    plates are about €5000

From what I hear there is not as much money in the taxi game these days (in dublin anyway).I think ALL taxi drivers should be made do a refresher course on Driving, talking and washing.

This is not true. Just tonight I was getting a taxi and the driver was as sound as you get, he was like talking to me really friendly, giving me advice on where to get off for handiness and stuff. Even before I got in I asked him a ballpark figure for how much it'll be to my destination, and he was spot on. The guy was sound, he was even showing me how the machine works, like.. If you are going under 9mph it's done by time, and if your going over it's distance.. Varies on taxi's I think though, with rates and what not. I get taxi's alot (out at night esspecially) and I have never once had a complaint or even an uneasy feeling in the car. I mean I'm getting into a complete strangers car and I always feel very safe. Of course with ever field of work you'll get some dodgy people, but that doesn't mean they all are like that. If you are going to make regular comments as stupid as that one, I really think you should just think about what you're going to type before you do.

    LoL, funniest post ever...:D

Ahh, only messin with ya shrimp, :) your right it was a bit harsh.

Back on topic, original poster, i presume what you're looking for is a couple of nights a week renting a already plated/registerd/insured car, so if you just contact any major taxi company in your area, they'll put you in touch with people in the business who are willing to share running costs with you, and cut you some profits, or at least put you on to people who are interested in investing in a taxi share....
In this day and age (de-regulisaton and all that), i wouldn't imagine to many people invest in cars and plates alone as it needs to be on the road pretty much 24/7 to be profitable.

But anyway, a good start would be by contacting your local rank for details.

And lay off the taxi drivers..you wouldn't be saying all that at 4am on a sunday morning!!! :D

Yeah i'd agree with you DubGuy22..

As for my other "pointless" posts.. hehe, they were on threads that no matter what anyone said, it wouldn't be taken seriously..:D

When I said "brb.. just goin out to friends..:D" I only did it for the laugh, but I actually was going to my friends. :)
