Congratulations to boards.ie on reaching its 7th birthday! It all began at 3:36 PM on the 12th February 1998 when I set up a small bulletin board on the Irish Games Network to talk about a computer game called Quake:

(Little did I know that there would be over 2 million of them!) The number of boards grew quickly, from one to five to 20. Two years later, regulars DeVore, Reginald (Regi), Vexorg and tr1n1ty joined with Cloud-Warrior (Cloud) to form boards.ie, and the new site incorporated all of the previous boards. X_OR (ecksor) joined the admin team soon afterwards. And the rest, as they say, is recent history...

On behalf of the admin team, I'd like to say thanks to all members, moderators and subscribers for your continuing support of boards.ie, and I wish us many successful years to come.

It's funny. You like to see that number, but you know it's not right, and you have no idea how *not* right it is. But, I think it could be safe enough to assume that for every duplicate account, or every person who reregistered after losing a password, there's a lurker who's never registered, but reads boards regularly.
Gives a good indicator for figures. 0.5% of the Irish population are on boards.
