Credit limits mean nothing really. They sound nice, but you still have to pay it back. It is not spending to your limit you need to worry about, it is paying it back! If you are using a credit card like that then you shouldn't have one. It is for convenience, not a supply of extra money. Everything you buy, you have to pay for and if not on time, it'll actually cost you more. Don't fall in to the trap of a high credit limit seeming like you have loads of money. You don't, unless you can afford to pay it.

Thanks for the handy tip, was just about to place an order for a Ferrari and some high class hookers but since I have to actually pay back the money I'm giving it a miss. Lucky me.

If you were to use up the 3.9 million you would still have to pay back the 5 percent minimum amount every month and there is the 14 or 15 percent interest (after the 6 month honey moon period of course)

I doubt that you would be allowed to do much credit card surfing with a 3.9 million balance.

Wow, they must be really high class if they take credit cards ;)

Yeah, they'll let him use the card to chop his lines of Charlie off their back then swipe the card between the cheeks of their arse for payment.

They haven't got chip and pin just yet...

    Bollocks.
Scan the slip to prove it. If it is really true, then let the company know that they've made a major f*ck up...

Actually, let's face it, if I had 3.9 million to play with, I'd launder it in the best way possible, then live a happy retirement in a far off land...

I already told them they made a mistake which I realised of course as I neither have a salary or bank balance to support such a credit limit.

Heh, if they do nothing about it, then read my second post more carefully ;-)

I love all the advice in this thread from people that seem to believe the thread starter would actually try to spend €3.9m. Very sweet.

For the record, I could spend €3.9m in a week, and if I thought I'd get away with it, I'd be posting this from Anguilla.

That's the thing - nobody usually has credit like that.
€10,000 isn't worth the hassle of relocating etc.
But for €4million, I know enough about anit-laundering to have a pretty good stab at being able to teach the teacher, and get away with it.

    Albeit, at a price...

3.9m is a lot of credit. You know what they say about the first million being the only hard one to make? My reckoning is that with a few short-term prudent investments you should be able to use the card to get into the stock-market, make a quick killing and get back out within the month to pay back the balance in total thus incurring no interest charges and keeping all the money.

Or you could just go to victorchandler.com and put it all on number 4 in the 3:15 at Doncaster ;o)

I think the bank would probably freeze your card pretty sharpish if they saw a moderate spender suddenly burning hundreds of thousands at the stock market, rendering your plan failed. :)

    No you wouldn't.

There's a lot more than 3.9 million euros in most county's ATM's (especially so in Dublin).

Besides - there's still a limit on how much you can withdraw on a card in any one day.

Not if you used the whole lot in one go, the transaction would be authorised as the limit is there to match it. You simply use the card to open a Davy's account to the tune of3.9 mil. Of course, the whole plan rests on you having the ability to trade.
