Okay, after an idea from Vinniew, here's a postal competition for airguns that has a fair few people in it already (17 that I know of) from Ireland (me included) for those interested in entering. I'll put up the scores here as they roll in over the coming months.

    · The competition will be shot over 5 rounds, one per month, for each round the match will consist of -

    · Air Rifle - 60 shots, 1 shot onto each of 60 NSRA AIR1/89 targets or equivalent per round.
    · The whole round to be shot within a period of 1 ¾ hours for a full series or 2 half series of 30 shots, each in 50 minutes.

    Welsh Airgun Association please.

    · Awards will be made to the first, second and third placed competitors in each division (Divisions to consist of 10 competitors if entries allow).
    · If there is sufficient interest a 6 Yard competition will be run in addition to the 10 metre competition, but these will be in separate leagues.

Okay some news on this, they've had some admin hiccups and so the closing date for entries has been pushed back one month to March 14, so if you wanted to enter, there's still time.

Just in case anyone was mulling it over, you have to get your entries at least phoned in by Monday!

Well, this is now underway and Rounds one and two have been shot. Round two's results aren't out yet (eta June 10), but here's Round 1!

    Round 1.doc

It's a bit complex to put up as a table when the board can't handle tables. We're going to have to fix that...

(and sorry it took so long to get posted, getting settled in this new job has taken longer than I thought it was going to!)

And here are the results from round two:

    Round 2.doc

    We're doing well so far:

Liam Spillane (WTSC) is in joint first place in Division One with Julie and Stuart Daltrey, though he'd come in in second place on the tiebreaker (14 points total, aggregate score of 1147 against Stuart's 1151 and Julie's 1142),

Ryan Lynn (WTSC) is in second place in Division Two, trailing Vic Morris by 3 points and 23 in the aggregate score,

Susan Cunningham (WTSC) should be listed as first place in Division Three, but there's been a problem with her scores which is being sorted for Round Three, but for now Damien Fagan (WTSC) is in first place, with Emma Lyons (WTSC) in second and myself (WTSC for this match) in third place and Daniel Fleming (WTSC) is lying in sixth place,

Elizabeth O'Hagan (Louth Pony Club) is in joint first place and winning on the tiebreak (1070 aggregate vs 1063 for Keith Skidmore and Shane Flynn), with Shane Flynn (UCDRC) also in joint first place for Division Four, with Cliona Russel (Louth Pony Club) in second place and Mark Lynn (WTSC) in third place.

And in Division Five, Jim O'Hagan (Louth Pony Club) is in second place, two points behind the current leader G. Evans, with Pat O'Hagan (Louth Pony Club) lying down the field in fourth place.

    The results from round three:

    Round 3.doc

    And at the half-way mark;

Liam Spillane (WTSC) has lost first place in Division One because he failed to shoot the round in time :(

Ryan Lynn (WTSC) has fallen from second place in Division Two to fourth place for the same reason :(

Susan Cunningham (WTSC) is now in first place in Division Three, the scores hiccup having been sorted out, and now Damien Fagan (WTSC) is in second place, a single point behind her (11 points on gunscore out of 1800) with Emma Lyons (WTSC) falling to fourth place and myself (WTSC for this match) in third place. Daniel Fleming (WTSC) is still lying in sixth place, but after this weekend he may well perform much better since we've found and fixed a problem with his gear.

Elizabeth O'Hagan (Louth Pony Club) is now out in first place in Division Four, with Shane Flynn (WTSC) a point behind her. Cliona Russel (Louth Pony Club) and Keith Skidmore are now in joint third place but Mark Lynn (WTSC) missed his round and has fallen back to joint sixth place as a result :(

And in Division Five, Jim O'Hagan (Louth Pony Club) is holding onto second place by quite a margin, though the gap between him and the leader has increased to three points. Pat O'Hagan (Louth Pony Club) is still holding in at fourth place, two points behind third.

C'mon lads&ladies, two more rounds to go, and all to shoot for still!

Rounds 4 and 5 are back, and that concludes the Welsh Postal for this year.

Liam Spillane (WTSC) lost first place in Division One and fell all the way to sixth (out of eight, two of whom did not start) because he failed to shoot rounds 3, 4 and 5.

Ryan Lynn (WTSC) fell from second place in Division Two to sixth place (of seven) for the same reason.

Susan Cunningham (WTSC) and Damien Fagan (WTSC) drew level in the fourth round, but Susan managed to pull away when Damien had a bad fifth round, so Susan takes first place, Damien second. Emma Lyons (WTSC) took third place, beating me into fourth place (gah!) and Daniel Fleming (WTSC) wasn't able to pull away from sixth place; the problem with his jacket still needs more work to fix :(

Elizabeth O'Hagan (Louth Pony Club) held onto first place in Division Four. Keith Skidmore remained in joint third place but with Shane Flynn (WTSC) instead of Cliona Russel (Louth Pony Club) for the final round; though Shane is 14 points ahead on gunscore :D Cliona took third place overall after a strong PB in the final round. Mark Lynn (WTSC) put in very strong scores for the last two rounds, and fought from sixth place back up to fourth, but wasn't able to catch up with the rest of the pack after missing round three; however, he did place second in both rounds four and five, so it wasn't for lack of trying!

And in Division Five, Jim O'Hagan (Louth Pony Club) held onto second place by quite a margin, but wasn't able to close the gap of three points between himself and first place. Pat O'Hagan (Louth Pony Club) came in fourth, having drawn equal with third place in round four, but being pipped in the last round by one point after a bad round :(

Well done to all who took part; congratulations to those who took medal places; slaps to those who didn't finish!; and next year, let's see if we can't get more people to take part!

And just before this year's match gets underway, a photo of the winners from WTSC from the prizegiving on Friday:

Left to right are: Susan Cunningham, Damien Fagan, Emma Lyons, Elizabeth O'Hagan, Cliona Russel, Shane Flynn and Jim O'Hagan.

As soon as the new postal match gets underway, I'll start a new thread for this year.
