Budapest, advice?

I'm off to Budapest next week for a few days on a business trip.

I was there for a few days a couple of years ago though, so I seen a good few of the sights back then. I'll be busy during the day, so won't have much time for that anyway.

I just wanted to know if anyone had any bar or restaurant recommendations for the evenings?

    Thanks.

Thurs night in Cha Cha Cha (Kalvin Ter) is a good one, til 5am
Szimpla Kert (Kazinski Ut) is pretty good too..
Sark & Redz (Klausai Ter), as well as Feszek closeby are good.
    Avoid Becketts, and Longford..

The thermal baths are worth a visit..
2nd last stop on the yellow metro line.

Some good restaurants on Liszt Ferenc Ter (Near Oktogon off Andrassy)
Also on Raday Ut (off Kalvin Ter)

I will echo the calls for the thermal baths, specifically the Gellert Baths which would be (facing Buda from the Pest bank) on the far left. Can't remember which bridge it was off.

St.Margarets Island is beautiful too, although avoid at night-time.
The "Terror House" Museum (and if you're a music appreciator) the Franz Listz museum on Andrassy Ut.

I would also look up Sobzersky (sp?) Park (statue park) on the outskirts of the city. You *will* have to make a bit of an effor to get to it, but it is a bit of an experience .....

The local beer is good, particularly "Dreher", and there are loads of road-side restauruants to choose from. If you want something quirky, check out "Sir Lancelots" where you can get served by "serving whenches" and litre jugs of beer, or "Darkness" which is a bit of a gothic, crypt type restaurant. It's near the rivebank (off a side street) at the Big central train-station of which the name escapes me right now. The staff of Darkness are beyond brilliant and will bend over backwards to help you. And the food isn't bad either!! ;)

I'll have a look for an online map and find street names.

It's beside Freedom bridge (Green bridge under Freedom hill/statue)
Indeed Gellert are nice, but the more touristy/expensive baths in BP

Dreher is brilliant ! .. Virtually no hangover on a fill of dreher :-)
    Avoid Borsodi - wicked hangover..
Local spirits include Unicum (old medicinal drink), Unicum next (New spiced up version), and Palinka (Hard flavoured Brandy - Lemon or Honey are nice)
    Which direction?
Mexikoi Ut - The stop for the baths is called SZÉCHENYI FÜRDŐ,
which is the name of the baths.
They're the biggest baths in BP. I think 9 baths in total, 3 outside. Some medicinal, and lotsa Sauns's, and Steam rooms.
The staff there are very rude though, as with lotsa public service people in eastern Europe.

    Thanks for the advice everyone.

I saw the baths last time I was over there and also more recently in the movie I-Spy with Owen Wilson and Eddie Murphy...
