Actually when I did it I volunteered after the start. I just called the office, so if you're interested call on spec.

They'll have senior volunteers but always need help, so can't hurt to try

yup. really lookin forward to it cuz i did it last year and had a feckin deadly time.
by sum freak occurence last time i ended up doin the parties, walkin around with a jameson tray permanently attached to my hand. but we kept a nice stash for ourselves and had a good laugh after.

id recommend ppl to try it if they have time cuz there are far more volunteers there than at the venues. tho ill be doin the venues as well this year so i can see more films.

but yeah its definately a rewarding experience if u love the movies. altho i know one or two ppl last year who were plonked in the westin hotel for most of the festival as sum sort of guest welcomers and had a pretty crappy time...
but its really what u make it :D:D

Yah Im really looking forward to it.
I was there yesterday, spent a total of 7 hours on buses getting there and back to Galway.
I thought that volunteers would be allowed to go see as many films as they wanted once they werent working, maybe standing at the back of ones that were sold out.

woh.thats dedication! i hope your gonna b stayin up here for the festival r the travelling will kill ya.

im not sure bout us bein allowed into any films we want. if u make good friends with sum other volunteers and they r workin when you wanna see something then u cud probs get in but there are many twats around, believe me.
i wasnt there yesterday so i dont know if things have changed but last year we got one film pass for every shift we did.
but as far as i remember, once tickets were sold when the film started then most of us went in to watch it.but obviously someone had to stay outside.

    all about scheming!

afaik, you only really get to sneak into screenings if they're on your current shift(and only if you're working venues) since you're seating ppl and the like.
it really depends on what cinema you're working in, ugc and savoy are pretty cool about it, not too sure about the rest.
