I am in an office and I want to know how secret MSN Messanger is? If I talk to other people on MSN Messanger is there any way that my bosses could have what i am saying stored in a file on there servers or anything like that?

Because I know that an office administrator could have a list of all the websites and things that you visited, but is MSN Messanger the same because of the way that it is pier to pier is it not?

    Is my question understood?

you have the option on MSN of archiving all your files.

I think the default directory is program files/my received files but I could be wrong.

Check your settings and see if its on and where it points.

They could log every keystroke you make in any program if they wanted to.
Keyloggers etc , work very well undetected from normal users in NT.

Using Messengers own chatlogging feature would be a lazy admins way and easily circumvented.

Test it out type " im gonna ****ing shoot my boss , i have a gun in my pocket" into MSN and see what happens :D

I am on a laptop, connected to the network, i am not worried about what stays on my computer, i am however wondering if there is anyway that this data that goes from my Laptop, out into the internet and onto the computer of the person that i am messaging, is there anyway that my office administrator can ever see that information (assuming I never leave my laptop in the office and I take it home with me at night).

I am just using the office as a conduit, you see?

Yes they can see everything you say, I've done it. A packet sniffer on the network (which any decent admin should have) will record all conversations in plaintext.

In short, Don't do anything via MSN that you want to keep pricate, especially on your office network.
