Take a peek here, it's the third from the top.

I've been wanting to get a nice LCD for quite a while now, but I've not looked at any for quite a while now, so its good to see that the 19" monitors are catching up to the overall standard, and the price is less than half of what it was a year ago.

And of course, 8ms response time sounds excellent.

Anyway, would this be a good monitor for mainly watching movies, and playing games?

    Thanks for opinions!

you have to watch with these new low refresh monitors. Alot sacrifice colours for lower times.

A few people seem to say the BenQ FP937s is a good LCD. 12ms responee time though.

people are obsessed with response times. this is almost irrelevant cos it is something the manufacture almost makes up. you have to see for yourself the monitor in action during games or else read reviews.

Yes! watch out many of them only use 6-bit colours or are actually 16.2M instead of 16.7M (that one does seem to be OK) colours. Also the 8ms figure is only the lowest it can get most of them actually average figures around 20ms. Read up carefully, I'm not saying that it wont be a brilliant screen it's just that those figures they quote are to be taken with a grain of salt.

Looking at it thought it seems a very good screen.....I'd be tempted if it were cheaper.

No they don't make it up they have tests they run to find out the response time. All the reviews I've read say 8ms is basically fast enough to be the equal of CRT. I'm waiting though because the 7th gen screens should be out on the streets in two months or so.

these 7th generation things will be mad dear. I'd go for the 19" capn. It seems fairly good, and response time is excellent, even if it may be exaggerated by the manafacturer.

the tests do not reflect real world performance and as somebody else said the 8ms is the lowest it can be. other colour changes are at differerent speeds.
i have a monitor that is 25ms but to many that would seem it is no good for gaming but nothing can be furthur from the truth. the only time i have ever noticed ghosting is in return to castle wolfenstein and it was only with the red nazi flag against a grey wall. at all other times it equals crts (and i play a lot of different fps).

response times should be taken with a pinch of salt.

I actually have a 25ms response one myself, a sony sdm-x70 or something I think. Anyway it's a lovely monitor and plays games a treat...

That said what do I know having not seen it versus the 8ms ones (sitting side by side)... but compared to a regular crt 17inch mon sitting in the same room, it's easily as good...

Good reviews of 19inchers from AnandTech. Does not include th emodel you mention but does have good discussion of response time and generally what-to-look-for.

I said that too, it's what I meant by average speed.
