Hi guys, trying to set up dish and need some basic information, it would be great if someone can help, please.

1)have a receiver with 2 CI and an 80 cm dish, I want to mainly Turksat at 42, do you think this dish size is enough or should i get a bigger dish, live in dublin.
    2) heard about multi block lnbs, especially the 20 degree one. If I have one of those can I watch 28 E and 42 using a switch, would this work on an 80 cm dish or would i need a bigger dish.
    3) would i be beetre of having 2 dishes, and again work with a switch, rather than the previous option

    many thanks

I´ve got an 80cm dish. First I ever saw on satellite was Besiktas-Athletic Bilbao on Turksat. I'm on Astra 19.2 E at the moment and have no problems. With bigger dish you could get weaker signals from other satellites but if you're only interested in the ones you mention I suppose you're fine with 80cm.

I don't know if the monoblock would work since the difference between satellites is 14 deg but you can get 2 LNBs working with the switch (make sure the receiver supports the diseq version of the switch). I'd go for this as opposed to 2 dishes but the more expert lads will be able to give you better advice...

thanks for your help inigo but i don't think you can get turkish channels on astra, u might have received the match on a different channel.
i tried asking a few people but u don't get a staright answer, u will receive channels from Turksat using 80 dish, some say u need at least 1.20 dish hence I am confused.

Also rather than monoblock I meant the new LNB holders, there is one now where yoou can put 2 or 4 lnbs and change satellites with a diseqc switch, has anybody tried it with satellites more tha 10 degrees in between, am interested in 28 and 42 east.

    thanks for your help.

    TRT on hotbird.

    No Turkish on astra 1

an 80cm dish should be ok for a span of about 15 degrees.
Many people go from 13e to 28e

For turksat in Dublin you need 80cm dish.
You can get about half the turksat transponders with 60cm.

You will need 1.2m dish for caspionet Russian TV on Eutelsat 36e

I meant I got Turksat on 42 deg (with my 80cm dish without any reception problems), basically because that match was on one of the Turkish channels. Later I decided to point the dish to Astra 1 because I don't speak any Turkish...

Should be no problem in Dublin. I used to receive the turksat widebeam with a 80cm dish here in the northwest. Even Europestar (for the racing) nearby (45°) came in.
Todays I pick up Turksat with a motorized 110cm Triax no bother.
