Arnots have cheap dumbell sets...proper cast iron things with the spin-off retainer. Don't think they have benches though.

Argos are good for a cast iron 50kg barbell/dumbbell set and for 10kg plate cast iron plates - not so good for benches apparently.

I got mine in argos. But stick an ad in the wanted section, most guys I know have a set of weights, and most don't ever use them, and its not like they can be broken or worn out! (weights that is)

Argos are rubbish. What's your budget like? I know you say money is no object but believe me it is ;)

This and this are good value and quality though. The rest is of questionable quality though. I notice they also have this York squat rack but it's not in the Irish catalogue...

They're both rubbish and a poor purchase. For a start if someones seriously thinking of building a home gym then olympic sets are the only way to go.

You'll outgrow the capacity of non-olympic barbell sets very quickly.

Try deadlifting 180 on one of those barbells and see how long it lasts.

Something like this and a good olympic set would be much better if money is not an issue.

Personally I'd travel to the UK - rent a van and buy a good quality powercage over there. http://www.gymratz.co.uk/

I'm only 18 and don't drive so traveling to the uk with a van is out of the question, looks like I may go with the york bench shown in the link above and maybe the york 50kg spinlocks.
