Thunderbird and the eclipse newsgroups

    Hey everyone,

    I'm hoping ye can help me out. I have been trying my best to setup Thunderbird to read the news.eclipse.org newsgroups and I'm failing miserably at it. I just can't figure out what the hell I'm doing wrong.

    I'll tell ye what I'm doing so that ye might be able to find a hole in it.
    1. Right first off I'm accessing this through a proxy so I have set that up in the Connection settings.
    2. Next I go to Add a new account.
    3. Click option newsgroup account.
    4. Enter my name and email account.
    5. Then enter the newsgroup server news.eclipse.org.
    6. Give the account a name.
    7. New account is made.
    8. Then I go to subscribe to the newsgroup and I keep getting a dialog "Connection to server news.eclipse.org timed out".

    Also the eclipse newsgroup requires a UserId and password to login. I have got both of these but how do I set thunderbird up to use them?? This has got to be doing something stupid I'm doing somewhere along the lines.
