    anyone know any good apps for organising desktop icons...like a series of drop down menus that can be configured...

    thanks shrimp...but not quiet what i'm after....i've got about 40 icons on the desktop.....just wondering was there anything out there that can help organise them into categories...eg games etc...could put them in folders i know...thought there might be something snazzier.. :)

    Yes, it's called the Start menu!

    It just baffles me why so many people insist on saving shortcuts and files on the desktop. It's just not practical to access them if you have any applications open!

    knew someone would suggest this.....everyone doesn't operate the same as you...i want stuff on my desktop...i wouldn't be asking otherwise.. :rolleyes:

    You can make toolbars from them in most versions of windows. Organise them into folders on your desktop first. Then right-click on the taskbar, go to Toolbars->New Toolbar and select one of your folders. Repeat for all your folders. They'll then appear on your taskbar, I keep them shrunk down to the right and click on them to get a vertical list of the links. Not the most elegant solution but it is quick and simple and doesn't require anything else
