Well I got the "tapes" for it there today around seven in the morning. So I decided to watch it before going to work. I must say, this ep had me at the edge of my bed the whole time. The night attack bit was extreamly well done. The whole cliff hanger ending was done well to. I cant wait to see the first ep of season two.
I cant wait to see what the new earth ship looks like. I hope they went for a whole new design
I also hope that it gets there just before the jumper gets distoried with the nuke on it

Didnt even read your spoilers - would kill me and wreck the rest of my day.

    Stop teasing :p

Yeah, I reckon the new ship will come in the nick of time, but get destroyed. At least that, or the ZPM will be useless.

Can't imagine they'll have a fully operational Atlantis next season :)

    hah

i hope anyone who hasn't seen this ep reads JH's post and has the ep spoiled on them

The thread is for the discussion of the episode. Spoiler tags are effectively redundant. Anyone who thinks otherwise is
    wrong

Excellent episode. Whenever you wonder why they have a few low budget episodes, it's episodes like this that show you: Some really fantastic SFX shots of the city under seige. Hell they even went to town with nice fancy transition shots between city locations...

I didn't like the general at first - very belligerent. He did soften at the end, in time to (assumedly) die. He did bring some interesting news about earth - a new ship? Another ZPM found on earth? I'm assuming we're going to see something about this in "Threads" (given the title and its 90 minute status) or, maybe, "Moebius". Still he brought lots of nice weaponry that just looked cool, so he's forgiven....

    * McKay was on fine snarky form this week. I loved the way he snapped about how it was the scientists having to save the day. It was also good to see him bounce ideas off of Zelanka, who has been getting an increased role as the season progresses. The only shame is he didn't have as much on screen time with Sheppard as I'd have liked.

    * Ford... hmm he didn't get much to do as usual? Still at least he got a cliff hanger. I think the fact they tossed him around as bait says as much as anything about him.

    * Teyla - Rallied her people, as you'd expect of someone in her position. Showed courage without being annoying. Fared pretty well this week.

    * Weir - Showed she had backbone here, cared about her people. Although the Genii plot seemed to go too quickly (although I assume there'll be reprecussions) she showed more steely determination than we've seen before. She's definetely fared a lot better in the second half of this season.

    * Sheppard - Again he shows his military edge (listening to the general) but also his respect for Weir. Now he's not going to die - clearly - but gotta admire the character's determination.

Sure the Genii plot felt a little like padding but the pyrotechnics and fanciness all made up for it and it certainly makes me want to see Season 2. Definetely one of the Seasons best and what a good start to a show.

    Wow... that was good...

Kinda lost momentum near the end I felt though.

McKay was as good as usual :)

Ending has me soooo pissed off! How DARE they leave the ending like that....

    I'm off to sulk :(

Brillent SG1 and SGA are both at there best of bestests

    NOOOOOOOOOOOO next July? NEXT JULY???
When do we get to see the enxt part?

dammit! anyway was a brillent epsiode i wonder will Maajoy sheaperd Asscend?
Battle done very well even if they take out both ships with those bombs there will still be a deadly battle between the deadlus and the remaining wraith cruisers and darts

I was a bit disappointed not to see the 1200 Megaton warheads going off in space to be honest!

    You can't please everyone.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,080 ✭✭✭✭Random

I was a little upset with the episode. While it was a truly brilliant episode I felt it could have been much more... They could have fit so much into it and still left plenty for ep 201. My feeling says that 201 is gonna be a rush job to get them into the s2 story arc :(

Those Wraith darts and the nighttime attack were well good though :)

Its obvious that the new earth battlecruiser will arrive in the nic of time to save sheppard, now, how they will get the ZPM from the ship through 3 wraith carrier battle groups is beyond me, more advanced asguard tech?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

i dont hink the battleship will arrive in time i think that shpeard will take out a wraith ship with his bomb then the deadalus wuill take out the wraith cruiserrs and land then they can powerr the shild probbley for months

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 4,569 Mod ✭✭✭✭Ivan

I have to admit sheperd does look doomed but I cant see him dying, tbh. That said, having the Daedalus arriving exactly at the required moment would be a bit cliché but certainly not outside Stargate writers' limit's.

Either way I dont care much, just want to see that shiny, new power... err, ship! :)
    /me drools.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

    he could die then asscend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,327 ✭✭✭NeoSlicerZ

I think sheppard'll have second thoughts, push the nuke out the back of the jumper towards a hive ship then push it to the ship.

Errr, there is no airlock in the puddle jumper, he would just be killing himself anyway.
And whats with all this ascending malarky, it happened once, get over it. Tv shows dont just kill off their main characters for no reason. They put them in situations where you think the only thing that can happen, is they will die but then, out of nowhere, they are saved.

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 18,001 Mod ✭✭✭✭ixoy

Exactly Ivan - he'll be saved somehow and it won't be anything to do with Ascending - that's Daniel's tricks on SG1.

Sci-fi shows, and shows in general, never really kill off their main characters. I mean who has died in the Trek series - Tasha Yar in TNG, but she was only in it for half a season anyway and was never the lead. Jadzia Dax died in DS9 but only half, since she sort of comes back as Ezri Dax. Babylon 5 killed off a few but the characters who died on screen were never really major players like Sheridan, etc. Farscape did kill some but it would never have killed off the main duo - Crichton or Aeryn without having them come back in some form ('coz yes, I know, they did kill them...).

It doesn't happen. Sheppard will come and it's not just because the actor is contracted to do a second season - it's because you don't kill your show's main star and risk alienating your fan base unless there's a bloody good reason. And it being sci-fi, dead doesn't really have to mean dead - does it Daniel Jackson...

Did McCay not use an airlock in The Siege Pt1 when
    going into the weapons platform?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,080 ✭✭✭✭Random

WTF Kevok you're in a thread about The Siege Part 2 and you're using Spoiler tags for the first half of the 2-parter? Somethings not right there ;)

As for your point, yes... There is a back compartment on the puddle jumper which can be sealed off from the rest of the ship, as seen with McKay in The Siege PT1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 696 ✭✭✭Kevok

You never know when someone will click a link on the front page by mistake only to stumble onto a spoiler filled thread.

I should know, it's happened to me. :(

Actually, I kinda stand corrected. The door between the cockpit and the back area can close, and create an airtight seal. Its not really an airlock, but it can act like one, so I withdraw that statement.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,192 ✭✭✭norbert64

Twas O.K., cool battle, but I'd have 2 say I enjoy the Goa'uld mothership, Hatac, & Glider battles more & TBH, it was hard to distinguish between the darts, the gun platforms & the military personnel firing in the night sky.

@ the ending, can't believe we didn't see @ least a HS window opening up. Was totally Xpecting the Dadelus to appear for even just a second.

While we're throwing out ideas, maybe it will be as simple as the Dadelus uses it's more advanced Asgard Beam tech to transport Shepard off the Gateship, lol. Just a possibility.

All in all, a decent finale. :D

I loved this episode. My only real problem is that we have to wait months to see what happens >_<

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

The conclusion of the Siege will probably take up about ten minutes of the forst episode of season 2 and then goes into some othjer story.

    Typical Stargate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,262 ✭✭✭Vertakill

Thats sorta what I thought would happen to Shepherd, something along the lines of docking into the ship and doing.... something :)

Ok, you dont get to name things :p

Personaly I cant wait for the start of season two.

I really enjoyed SGA but im a bit confused I thought there was only two hives ships but when you see them in orbit There was a lot of smaller ships and not darts? Cant wait to see the Dadelus I just hope it doesn't get blown up in the first few seconds of it arriving.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

There were two Hive ships but they wre accompanied by a fleet of battle cruisers.

Why is everybody so psyched to see the Dadelus...it's the exact same as Prometheus.

I think it will be destroyed after dropping off the ZPM....the only other idea is that it remains under Atlantis sheild but I really don;t see them having a battle cruiser on stand by for the whole series.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18 Rebel Jaffa

This has nothing to do with the ep. I was thinking about SGA and got to thinking about the wraith! I think there is something we all haven't seen yet and maybe that the Ancients never saw either? I was thinking about Hive ships and then Ant and Bee's Came into my head. What if there's one Queen or leader of all the wraith. That sends out info (like the Borg Queen). Just things like this keeps on popping into my head (I dont know get out more maybe). The Ancients left records of the mase number of the wraith just like ants and bees. Am I making any sense.

Yes, but in the wrong thread.

I'm sorry, I'm going to have to go with: No.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,225 ✭✭✭Scruff

only after seeing this episode, thought it was great.
Dont think Shepard will die. Either the Dadelus will arrive or he'll find some way to off load the nuke without getting killed. Perhaps he'll surprise the wraith by landing in a dart lauch bay still cloaked and just roll it out the hatch and fly off before it detonates.

On aside note. why are the earth ships so ugly? could they not have taken a leaf out of the asgard design, seeing as how its their technology being used and all...

oh well will have to wait and see. and it nearly june :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,570 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

First episode is July 15th, according to epguides.com. (Unless thats for the US, and Canada is starting sooner, like season 1?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

hey earth ships look brillent not ugly

meh... bit too like flying oil tankers. long front with bridge sticking up at the back. also they're pretty crap, in sg1 episode Full Alert and Prometheus Unbouned it was nearly taken out by an Alkesh..

Ah well that was just for the sake of a good script.
It also destroyed a very large portion of Anubis' fleet in Lost City, then took a huge pounding of a mother ship.

    The design doesn't bother me

Also, I thought the Asgard diddesign the Prometheus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

i also thought that the promethuse was based on a asguard design

The prometheus was the earth designed battleship, based on scavenged technology. After having built it, they got into the Asgards good books, and got some engines, shields, weapons etc. from the asgard.

The Daedelus, has all of that stuff in its initial design. So, you'd imagine, that would make it generally, better.

The alkesh almost destroying Prometheus, I believe, they were on the ground to start with. With Shields down, etc. And that was old shields/weapons/etc.

Anubis' fleet = New Asgard Shields/Weapons/etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

No, Prometheus was designed by the Asgard,co-built by them aswell.

The Daefelus is the exact same but with more advanced weapons and shields.

It was immobilised by an Alkash, but in one epsiode, an Alkash manged to immobilise a Goa'uld mothership.
    Think about the script thing.

Sorry, Ivans right, the Prometheus is earth designed only getting help
from the Asgard after the episode Disclosures, and any ship is vunerable
with its shields down whatever is attacking it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

Fraid not Horatio, Carter herself said in the episode, so appropritly titled, 'Prometheus', which came before the epsidode 'Disclosure', that the ship was of an alien design and being constructed by humans and aliens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 148 ✭✭Horatio

to the reporters ! That means a lie. do you also believe that the ship was
designed from a wrecked spaceship found in Fairbanks Alaska ?

Indeedie, that was some episode. When will Season2 debut? When will the "tapes" start arriving?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

The Promethus is a earth designed ship it was designed/built using hybrid human computers / gouald cystals. After anubis violated the protected planets treaty in his attacks on earth the asguard then came to earth to install asguard desinged shields and weapons on promethus (epiosde disclosure)

The Deadulus is earths new battle cruiser in season 7 enemy mine i think is the episode name on a off world mission they fuind a massive suppy of naquada undergound and they want it but the 100s of unas that live on the planet consider it sacread and are pissed offf a deeal is made the unas will mine the naquadria and deliver it to earth

earth wanted the naquada to build a fleet of battle ships the promethus was a prototype the deadalus is clearly the 1st in a series of Tara`i battle cruisers being built also russia and china have the plans for the x302 and 303 (promethus class)

also some of u have mentioned the promethus took out a decent part of anubis flert in the episode the lost city part II but as far as i remember it took out at best a couple of alkiahs at best and a few gliders the anchiant weapon took out the whole fleet and the remaining gliders and alkiash
