hi all, gz are doing a benefit for PAWS dog sanctuary in kildare next week, please go to their website and read about the work they do, www.paws.ie

    playing are:

Oak (from the ashes of some of the best irish bands ever - you know who they are but i'll get in trouble for saying. raw, heavy, rocking)
Lebanon Death Train (mentalist guitar and drums duo, ex-sci bong/nerdlinger)
Toymonger (german crossdressing synth pop fetishists play a rare irish date)

It all takes place in Boh's Bar (the main one, where the discos usually are), which is located in Dalymount Park, Phibsboro. Here are some maps: http://www.bohemians.ie/maps.htm, and the easiest way to the venue is via the North Circular Road entrance.
Sunday Feb 13 is the date, and doors will open at 8.30pm. The bands will finish in time for the last bus, but the bar will be open a little later. see you there! oh yeah, and admission is only €5.

paws have said they may have to put this dog down unless enough people show up to the gig.

Woah, just did a search under our name on this site ? PAWS would NEVER put a dog to sleep except for serious agression... NEVER would getting into debt be an issue.

As it turned out, this beautiful dog, Galdalf, died undergoing surgery to remove wire that had been put in to repair his jaw. Veterinary error ?? We will never know.

Thanks bombidl, but this gig was a couple of years ago. I was just horrified that the threat of having a dog PTS was used to make folks go ??

I was under the impression that was a joke.

Anyway, this belongs in gigs/events, so moved.

    i'm there.
i already work part time in animal rescue but it's my destiny to change dogs lives like that.
how would you suggest people get into a career like that, Mr/Ms. PAWS?

    Thank you so much Gar,

Deaddonkey, i am not being smart, but if you want to work long hours, less than mimimum wage, and often heartbreaking work, go into animal rescue. It is a vocation, not a career, at the moment. We need a new generation to get into this 'business' but it is not easy. Thankfully, the UK organisation Dogs Trust are in the process of buying a site in Ireland, so within 5 yrs there will be 'paid' jobs in welfare
