Warranty on RAM...

Well if you've read my other thread, you'll know I had a hectic weekend.
The upshot being that my comp now has 2 harddrives and 1 stick of RAM, where it used to be the other way round...

The stick that went bad was a 512mb 266mhz made and sold to me by Crucial about 18 mths ago. Now I recall when buying it that it had a limited lifetime warranty. I've read their terms and conditions and it's all a bit up in the air as to whether they'll replace it or not as far as I can see.
The RAM was installed properly with all the anti-static gear and all, and used on a machine with surge protection and has never been overclocked or abused in any way...

So has anyone else here ever had to return bad RAM? Did the seller/manafacturer cough up? HWat do you reckon my chances are or should I even bother? Paid like 75 euro for it then and it's about the same now.
    Thoughts?

id email crucial, if it has a lifetime warrenty they wont even look for a reciept, or proof of purhcase.

chances are they'll issue you a returns number and will send you out new ram once they get yours.

if its 18mth old, chances are retailer will tell you to sod off!

the reatiler should also be able to deal with this matter for you, as long as you still have the proof of purchase, they are obliged to resolve this matter within the first 2 years of purchase, as long as the defect was not your fault, and they have to prove this, not you.
Limited Lifetime warranty normally means, that they have additional terms in the Warranty description, exluding physical damage etc, and also they can only replace it, if the product is still in stock/still been produced.
I personally, would go directly to Crucial about this, and deal with them, it shouldn't really be a big issue for them or you.
If you feel like a fight, then go to your retailer about this matter.
    Hope this helps you

Well just to update this problem, I mailed Crucial about the stick and was given an RMA number about 3 days later. Sent the stick back and within 2 days they had tested it and sent me out a new one, no quibble or fuss.
This alone would recommend Crucial to me for anything memory related I ever buy in the future. Their prices come a close second...
