Firewall and Packet Loss

    Hey,

This has been going on for a good while but I was never really bothered about it until now. In Counter-Strike, I seem to be getting a fair amount of packet loss which is obviously very annoying in a multiplayer game. Normally I'd get about 3-4% loss but when anything major happens it can go upwards to 25%.

I think my firewall is causing it because when I turn it off I don't seem to get nearly as much. I use Zonealarm with the latest updates but the newest patch seems to have made it worse for some reason. I'm on ISDN with netsmart btw.

Has anyone else experienced this before and would switching firewall help, do you think?

Are your rate and update settings set too high? And what servers are you playing on, English ones ?
I suppose it'd be worth a shot switching firewalls. Heard that zonealarm isnt the best to game with, although i dont run any :)

    Try Kerio personal firewall.

I've tried different rates but its had no effect. I only play on english servers and I know some of them do give alot of loss because of routing etc, but even on the ones that I know are good, I still get it.

    I'll give Kerio a try.

    Try Outpost Firewall aswell.

Very easy to setup rules for it.
