Who won the €20 tournie last night in the Fitz? I was knocked out just as table three was being broken up. I had 'donated' most of my fairly large stack to the large friendly chap with the 'tashe on table 3 - his QQ held up against my 1010, and he was left with a big stack.

Did the fella on table 2 continue to cause trouble? The row really sucked the life out of the place for a good 20 minutes...

No idea who it was, but DeV and Luke had to shout a bit at him a number of times and threaten to kick him out - he was drunk (or something) and causing much hassle at his table, some of the older players were getting fairly upset.

That's the joy of on-line Poker, you never have to see or listen to your fellow players and so avoid incidents like that.

he wasnt a regular though he's a regular player around town aparrently. He got a huge stack early on and then disappeared to the pub mid-level-2 and didnt come back until he was phoned. At the break he disappeared off again and returned even more drunk. he proceeded to take people out by going all in with J6 and getting called by AK and TT and getting a house by the river. Not content with that he was also fairly boorish about it and a very poor winner imho. At one point after winning another huge pot he pushed his entire stack towards Grace (the dealer) and said "can you sort that out for me love, I'm too pissed". He couldnt stack his own chips (oscar had to help him when I made it clear it wasnt the dealers job to sort it out).
Once that happened I hung about the table for a while (I was Tournie Director Elect at the time). I'm still amused by what happened next, Frank Murphy (yep, the dapper dressed, polite and ultra-friendly gent) had a flaming row with the bloke about his language and general demeanour. I tried to interject politely but they apparently wanted a shouting match and, well, I love a good shouting match as much as the next man so I employed DeV's Super Loud Voice powers and then they decided they didnt want a shouting match any more. I also made it clear that he'd be ejected if there was any more of the nonsense (to congratulations from Macker who had suffered yer man for the first half of the game!). And sent a runner to get Luke for backup :)
Luke also had words with him but I was off at that point so I disappeared. I hope he didnt make final table. :)

to be fair I've only twice now seen problems with drunkards, one was last night and once with the infamous Mr Doyle. And on neither occasion was security required. The vast majority of the time there's a near carnival atmosphere, especially for the big games (like tonight!).

    DeV.

Hey, was that the poker school taking place before the tournie began? The reason I ask is that one of the student-y girls that was involved and later played was extremely pretty. At least compared to the VAST majority of other players! For the sake of my eyes, I hope to see her again at the tables.

She'll be back! She had the pleasure of BigDragon's company for the early level's and was vocally disappointed when a certain Tournie Director Elect moved me (Thanks alot Dev). ;)

Nice one DeV and well handled. Who's Frank Murphy, can you describe him as I can't place him. Anyway it's nice to know that these unslightly incidences can be handled on site without having to call in the heavies as that certainly wouldn't to the clubs reputation any good.
Can you tell us a bit about the previous "infamous Mr Doyle" episode as I have never heard the story. These stories are always very amusing and interesting in terms of how they are dealth with at the time.
    Thanks

i had my own little run in with mr. doyle. not exactly a pleasure at the table is he?

i thought it was a tilting ploy at first and then realised that he's just an angry chav.

I lurve everyone...but especially the ladies...with a few notable exceptions.

All of the above is true as long as I don't have to interact with them in the real world as I will just turn red and run away squealling like a little girl.

No names no pack drill. It was all handled very professionally (at least up until yer man decided to have a very brief shouting match with me. :) )

Frank's one of the nicest people in the club. He's usually wearing a suit, he's balding, fairly quietly spoken, very polite and friendly. Plays fairly straight forward poker, a bit loose and calls a bit more than he should. If you play the Sunday and Wednesday €20 games you'll definitely know him to see.

One of the most unpleasant people I've met playing poker, I've seen him do and say horrible things at the poker table. I know some people don't think he's *that* bad but as karl said he not much more than an angry chav.
