Installation of Lidl Satellite

I have a problem. (just one of many i might add)
I bought a lidl satellite dish, finder etc except the LNb. Just got the LNB from our local boards satellite website (you know who I am talking about as I am sure hell reply to this). I sat down for about 1hr 30 mins today and got the everything put together and up connected and was ready to go. The Dish is set about 4 feet from the ground and there are no houses in the way, a neighbour of mine has there dish in the same position. I put the sat finder onto the line between the LNB and the reciever and followed the instructions.

Having read the posts about people who have had some troubles installing their dishes I thought I would have been prepared, but I wasnt. all i get is "Signal weak" and that is it. On the sat finder I dont even get a light on the LNB or an audiable signal.

I looked at all the satellite dishes around me, mainly sky digital but a few Lidl ones (i think one of my neighbours fell down because the wall bracket looked upside down and the dish was missing), and pointed the dish in the direction of the others. I was outside for 12 middday so I could tell what south roughly was. No matter what I did with the dish i got nothing and the sat finder didnt even light up.
I had no coax cable (ill get some in work tommorow) so i used a pipe cable with 2 f to pipe connectors on them and that is how i linked them up.

    Has anyone got any ideas
    thanks in advance

Ok first thing to do is get the sat finder to light up, if its not lighting its because you are getting no voltage from the receiver so i'd say the coax or connections are to blame. get yourself some decent coax like ct100 and make sure connections are good.

This should get you going but if not come back fo more help.

    Good luck

You said you read other posts, and I'm sure someone already pointed this out, but I'll draw your attention to it nevertheless: the sat finder has one end marked "To LNB" and the other "To Receiver". You won't get a signal on it if you connected it wrong.

Yep, well it was the cable. went and got the cable and spent time settin git up and the minute i connected the sat finder it went mad.

so spent some time yesterday and linked it all up.

I found hotbird really easy, some good channels there. moved the dish around abit and found astra 1 to the left and a bit lower than hotbird. then tried to find astra 2 and found nothing, not a thing.
I was looking at a few of the pages here and saw some peoples pictures of their LNb,s and noticed the height difference between astra, hotbird and astra 2 (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=221456) and look at seanos message at the bottom.

how do you know where 28.2, 19, 13 etc are. the holder at the back of the dish has an inclination scale on it but to get hotbird at its about 24 or so so i dont thing it is accurate?

any suggestions or websites with words of wisdom.

Astra 2 is a little further to the left of Astra 1 and a little further down. Overall the lidl dish itself will appear to be tilted slightly downward although, of course, this is due to the fact that the focus is offset from the centre - it is still being aimed upwards.

If you can get hold of a compass, this can help for direction but hold it a bit away from the dish as the metal can through it off.
