I am planning on putting a pc together myself but not for a while yet, but i was just checking komplett.ie for prices and this is the first time looking at parts for the pc and i am generally going by a guide that is on Ign.com

Ive listed what i think is good, and think i need. But are there any items ive left out ( apart from keyboard, monitor mouse etc ) and what do you think of the choice. As i said this my first time putting a pc together so if ive left out major components no need to slate me :P

All things are from komplett and it came to €1253.49

Thermaltake Shark Black Aluminium (Without PSU) €119

Cooler Master Real Power 450W w/Power indicator €99

    MSI 925XE NEO Platinum54G Mainboard S775 I925XE,SATA,ATX,GbLAN,Dual-DDR2,PCI-Ex16 €205

    Corsair TWIN2X 4300C3PRO DDR2, 1024MB Kit w/two matched CM2X512-4300C3PRO €299

    Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 120GB S-ATA 8MB cache 7200RPM NCQ € 85.99

AOpen DVD recorder Double Layer Retail DUW1608 Chameleon Multicolour

so thats bad....? ( im new at this lol ) what should i change?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,891 ✭✭✭Jammer

yeah well, its bad in so far as the chip wont fit into the motherboard.

You need to choose a socket 775 Pentium 4 on komplett

Then you *could* go for DDR2 which would offer better performance then regular DDR

Guess your using the comp for games due to your link.
Did you look at AMD's (better for gamming/go Socket 939)
Another thing the x700 is a weak card unless the 256mb one, look at the 6600gt as well.

EDIT: http://www.jes-computer.de/product_info.php?pID=19284 best value iv seen - need to reset language though !!!

For the money I'd advise going for the prebuilt one on jes.

Since your motherboard is ddr2 you might have to put ddr2 into it
    e.g. http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=302988&cks=PRL

It may support ddr(1) i dont know for sure, but you might as well go the whole hog.

I think ill have to go DDR2 so which is better out of these two with the first one at 299 euro and the second one at 245 euro

    Corsair TWIN2X 4300C3PRO DDR2, 1024MB Kit w/two matched CM2X512-4300C3PRO

    or...

    Crucial DDR2 PC3200 1024MB CL3 Unbuffered,1.8V,128Meg x 64, 240pin

Also it is aimed for gaiming so if anyone can recomend a good graphics card...is 256mb a way better option than 128mb in graphic cards?

Depends what res ur playing the games at really...its better to have 256, but if ur only playin the games at 1024 x 768 the 128mb will be fine.

the PC4300 would be better i think...

256mb is not better than 128mb in some cases, look more at pipelines and 128/256 bit - here is a hand link for you Mid Range PCI-Express cards also if your a huge gamer the x800xl is out good value, bitch of a crd for the cash

EDIT: if its gaming go AMD cpu socket 939 better - also try pick Winchester rather Newcastle make - the 3200+ or the 3500+ are good

I have heard alot about jes.de but is there a way to reset the language into english apart from the menubars at the side the main information on the components is still in german....?

That and Komplett seem the best two sites so far.

Try www.pc-look.com as well. Some handy gear. And ya you can change the language.

I reckon you could get a Dell 4700 (775 and PCI-E)from the outlet store, and add a PCI-E card to it cheaper than you can build it.

But its a Dell so it wouldnt be worth it in the long run.
