    Hi Guys

This is a bit long winded. I have just built a new system its p4 skt 476 using an Abit IS7 motherboard I have a 1GB RAM. Theres a Radeon video card 128MB, a NEC CDRW a Hitachi SCSI DVD RAM drive, Adaptec 29160, a Hitachi Kurofune 400GB SATA drive, and a Belkin wireless LAN card.

Anyhow, I loaded windows XP everything is fine. I configure XP take out the CD and reboot and I get told that there isnt a bootable disk drive. I assumed that the disk drive had died so I tested it nothing wrong there so I decidd to reinstall XP so I put the CD back in the NEC drive and reboot and the PC boots ok. I tried in the HItachi DVD RAM drive and it fails. The end of the story is I need to leave the windows CD in the NEC CDRW to get the system to boot. I have hecked the BIOS and I cant see anything wrong.

    Has anyone got a solution.

There's probably an option somewhere in the BIOS for boot order or seomthing like that, make sure that SATA is near the top, preferrably 1st. Otherwise look around for options to do with allowing boot from SATA.

You need to set bootable PCI add in card and change the order of the boot from CD drive to bootbale add in pci. (thats 2 seperate options in bios)

Have similiar board and usually the bios names stay the same so its Bootbale PCI add in thingy.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had to get onto abit in the UK turned out the SATA Raid drivers they sent with the board were corrupt got the new ones and reloaded XP all ok.

    Thanks again
