As a recent convertee, I'd steer you towards the Rush In Rio DVD as a quality introduction to their entire career, that's what got me into them. Plus you get to see Peart in action and his warm up on the second DVD is really quality.

Anyway, Baggio will be along shortly ;)

    c'mon baggio! :p

    but Neil Peart is class

oh Doc - good point on the AC/DC gig in the other thread - MCD are looking to take over the world methinks

Winnie: i recently got the Primus Hallucino Genetics DVD which has a great drums and whamola jam (a whamola is a crazy sounding thing) - thats worth checking out for the sheer uniqueness

Thankee, I couldn't help but rant, have Today FM ever even played an AC/DC song?

Anyway, Winnie, if you're feeling adventurous I'd steer you towards Focus by the band Cynic featuring a guy called Sean Reinert on drums. The music might take a while to get into, it's quite heavy at times, but it is one of my favourite albums of all time and number 1 when it comes to drumming.

    Winnie,
..ahh always a joy to see someone looking for some quality.(listens for the groans from the lads laughs) Good question about rush and best album to buy and drum solo etc. Tell ya the truth all their stuff over 30 years is packed with amazing drumming. Peart is different to the majority of drummers in that he plays to the maximum all the time fills , flurrys, rolls all over the place. Thats why so many drummers love him, coz he does what many of us WANT to do!.. laughs.
Doc nailed it there, the DVD Rush In Rio , is a veryyy good intro coz it covers a lot of their music down the years in that tour. Album to buy? (scratches head!) well i like em all i suppose many people choose Moving Pictures as a "best intro" to the band, i like it of course but hold up Hemispheres and 2112 as their greatest having said that, hemispheres is complex and contains La Villa Strangiato an amazing instrumental.
So..after all that ! Moving Pictures would be a great starting point, opening track is Tom Sawyer a veryy popular one and it has some fabulous drum work throughout the entire song - tight beats??..check it out its razor tight and yet dramatic all that drumming should be¬ YYZ is on there 2 a very popular instrumental.

So hope that helps the lads can now breath a sigh of relief that ol big mouth here has shut up finally!!..hahhahaha
Moving Pictures for you madam and the DVD will be a great help too.

    ciao' amigos....Baggio...............

Test For Echo is a great album but Exit...Stage Left is the best
