Unspecified "Bad Things" happened to Pie (our new, main WWW server) last night during a big upgrade to the OS. It seems to think its a toaster or a washing machine or something now. Either way, its not a happy bunny.

Unfortunately it was our load balancer and main WWW server. Muppet as you can tell is fine as is the database server but Pie is fooked beyond recognition and will need to be rebuilt from scratch (OS-wise). Regi and Ecksor are on the job but time is constrained. I cant make any guesses as to when things will be back to normal but hopefully it wont be a matter of days. We may revert to Muppet alone in order to provide some service. Thats the lads call as they know best.

So, bear with us and we'll get things back to normal asap. Sh*t happens and it happened last night to us

Sorry to hear that. Lets hope muppet can take the strain. Although it might be a good thing in some ways - if the DNS www reference is pointing at pie, then the chances are most of the guests and people that are unfamiliar with the server setup wont hit muppet and swamp it with requests. On the other hand, they might find some other inferior site to use as their daily passtime.

BTW - cheers to regi for his mammoth work yesterday in getting us a new server and to ecksor for finishing the job of software installation I barely had time to start.
