A turn up for the books, a Georgia Judge has ruled that stickers on US school textbooks stating that Evolution is only a theory not a fact, are unconstitutional.

The stickers were part of a move to push "alternatives to evolution" (ie. Creationism) onto US school kids.

This seems to be an agenda of the Bush regeime, but it conflicts directly with the "State and god are separate" stance of the US constitution.

Has anyone seen the new way that they are pushing creationism? They accept natural selection, but push God as the driving force.

Always love they way that they never consider all the other forms of creation especially the native american ones. Like when Constable Dorfl told the priests that he would believe in a religion, once they decided amongst themselves which one was the best.

I don't see anything wrong with pointing out that evolution is just a theory. It's at least more open-minded than printing EVOLUTION=FACT, DEAL WITH IT or somesuch.

So in with that logic we should put an advisery sticker on all science textbooks. "Quantum Mechanics: An alternative to God".

Evolution is not a fact, it's only a theory.
A theory can't be proven it can only be disproven. Have a look at things like "The selfish gene" to see other takes on this.

Picked up a creationist dinosaur book a while back. 80% of it, descriptions, fossil finds etc. is sound. Only the bits concerning religion, how long it takes to make a fossil and the flights of fancy are different to other dinosaur books. In it there is a description of the bombadier beatle and how this invertrabrate uses chemicals to send a jet of steam at attackers. Jump straight to this proving that those duck billed dinosaurs with the big crests were using these crests to ... well lets just say that fire breathing dragons were wiped out in the flood.

Without knowing the specific suggestion, God could be the driving force, but well who knows.

Ok but then surely every church should have a sign outside saying "creationism is a theory, not a fact"

Good point. You go to science class to learn about science, not religion.

Alright there is enough evidence for the evolution theory, even the belief that there isn't one deals already with basic biology (psychobiology - belief - helps the 'surviving system of human beings' and the kind of belief doesn't matter/must be positive though) and besides NATURE IS THE BEST TEACHER! (e.g. rudiments - avatavism) ;)

Moreover, I once read in an article that some U.S. parents were arrested, because they fed their children with 'raw vegetables'. Oooh yeees, now someone might say: "OH GOD!"

However, there are things beyond earth that we cannot explain (yet)
