The refreshers fair is being held in the venue of the Hub on Wednesday the 7th of Feb. That's the wednesday of the first week back.
Pretty much all clubs and socs will have tables there.
The registration system will be the same as last semester.

Just noticed an issue with this. The 7th is the Monday of the first week back. I'll update when I know what the full situation is.

    Sound.

When do we get to pick our tables and stuff?

Amz, you can book your table since last tuesday. Of course the SCC won't tell you that, but the SPC sent out a mail this week to the socs committees with the info. Siobhan is taking the bookings afaik.

    HTH.

Oh yeah, and it's only €2 to join clubs/socs at the refreshers fair which I think is a really good incentive for people to get involved in something new for the second semester.

You'd think they would send these important little snippets of information out to the club committees. I think we should all threaten to have our club status overturned to society status.

It's a bit annoying. I've just changed from secretary to PRO and even as secretary I got very little correspondance, now I'm getting nothing!

What time does the SU open at in the morning? I've to get posters stamped!

Well the Clubs and Socs people don't start until 10am so I guess it's the same for the SU

Complete disincentive for clubs and societies to try to arrange a THIRD day of this crap. The money more than likely wont cover even costs of the day for anyone concerned. It makes sense in terms of there being only 1 semester left but the 2 euro is only for one day, no? Are all memberships from now on (for this semester) going to be 2 euro?

Terrible, terrible idea in my opinion. 2 days at the start of the year was bad enough. It's a pain for big clubs n socs cause they feel they've to go all out - posters and the like - and probably more so for the smaller ones who struggle to have one person at their table the whole day.

    I very much disapprove.

I've been up since 6 doin' friggin' posters.

I'm all fidgety and grumpy ... Might put people off joining now.

    Ngah!

Aside from the membership cost being 2 euro, one really good feature of this re-freshers fair is that it'd offer _new_ clubs or societies the chance to get members. The 2 euro thing would get to them though. I remember standing/sitting in the Hub all the way back in 1st year, after forming the Archery club, trying to get members. It was tough.

Since it was so late in the year though it was decided to do soemthing a little strange with memberships. (I was blissfully unaware of any set membership rates at the time so if such rules exist then meh.) We took full membership and told our members that anyone who re-newed the coming year would get a discount (which was also implemented). Agreed it was quite a pain come the first Clubs n Socs day we had but when we started we needed all the funding we could get so that seemed like the best option. I feel it worked quite well also.

Did anyone join any new clubs/socs?

We got a good few for the tag-rugby club which is only just starting out, but we're pretty happy about it.

I joined the karting club (don't know why!)
Also joined swimming and water polo again.

I was told that both Archery and Redbrick got about 10 new members each.

Sounds like an absolute disaster of a day. If Rag Week wasn't next week then I'd say that next Wednesday would have been better (not that I advocate a rehash of this again).

I think they need to keep it to 2 days at most. Either 2 at the start of the year or 1 per semester (preferably both Week 2s). Just my opinion on the matter anyhow.

I was supposed to be at a stand and I missed it. Wasn't exactly a high profile event, was over before I even knew it began.
