I have just bought a 300GB seagate hard drive and a Zynet eternal enclosure. I have the hard drive partitioned for the desktop, laptop, linux and for other stuff. what i want to do is clone my laptop onto it but everytime i try to do it it fails. I have the hard drive enclosure connected up via a usb lead. Norton tells ya to enable usb drivers for cloning. i do this but it will not assign a drive letter to it and so fails. is there any way i can do this? i have my laptop setup absolutly perfectly and would like to clone it just incase it ever went belly up. i want to do this for my desktop as well! im win xp pro sp2 on both the laptop and desktop!

Dunno if this will help , Ghost 2004 version can ghost an image from within windows itself ie. when you can 'see' the external hard drive . Try and get ' hold ' of a copy and see if that works , worth a try.

You could try running Live Update to make sure that Ghost is comlpetely uptodate, there could be newer USB drivers available.

Are you running Ghost from a boot disk?
