We recently had our attic converted, which means for the first time in my life I have a bedroom all to myself.

I have a brand new double bed and all (w00t!)

I've been bouncing a few ideas around, and have decided to have some candles in my room, the scented ones.

I wonder if anyone does the same kind of thing, and what scents you would recommend, where would be the best place to buy them etc etc

Also, I'd be interested in that insence burning stuff too

Ah, I get that too, especially after too many pints of the black stuff. Its like waking up in a swamp, with many alien sounds and smells coming from all around you :D

Actually, I used to use them for my insomnia when I was in college...

My username is a shortening of "Sleep Comes Tomorrow" which was my net username for years but too long for Boards.ie username rules when I registered.

It should be good alright as long as you stick your barry Manilow cd on and dance around singing into a hair brush.

You can get scented candles anywhere really but you can get really nice ones in the basement of arnots. They have scents like blueberry muffins, vanilla sugar but my all time favourite one has to be the fruit smoothie one. I know they all sound sickly sweet and manky but trust me there not. The sizes they come in are: a pack of eight tea lights, a smallish candle or for 24.99 you can get a huge candle that comes inside a jar with a lid. They all smell nice and you can get outdoorsie smells too like freshly cut grass and stuff. Great for getting rid of bad smells and they leave a nice aroma behind too.

Make sure you only light the incense on the stroke of midnight after you have lit the candles at each point on the pentagram (northernmost point candle first, then moving anti-clockwise). You should only then slit the white goat's throat with the ceremonial brass spork and proceed to douse yourself with petrol & cream. Otherwise you risk offending our lord Satan, who shall smite thee.

Don't be. Sleepy's pretty accurate for me these days because this job definitely puts me to sleep!

Just be careful of candles in the bedroom. I once shared a house with a girl who nearly made us homeless after herself and the boyfriend got a bit "enthusiastic" in bed one afternoon. They managed to nudge a pillow into one of the candles they had lit to set the mood and it went up in flames.

My favourite incence scents are sandlewood and rain. Not sure how freely available rain is... I only managed to get it in one shop which has since closed.

Incence aggravates asthma so bare this in mind if you are gonna be using it.
I can't use it much anymore because of that reason :(

My favourite candles are jasmin, cinnamon and VANILLA.
    Vanilla is soooo nice... NYOM!

If you're gonna burn the large chunky church candles make sure they're on some sort of a ceramic plate or something... it helps catch the drips.
Alternatively you can use tealights because the little tin cup doesnt let anything drip... but tealights work out more expensive in the long run.
