Does anybody know if iLife 05 will come free with Tiger, whenever Tiger is introduced?

It won't come with Tiger but it will be bundled with every new iMac.

What is ilife? Is it simply itunes, imovie and photo or is it something built on top of these?

Apple's site is slow today - everyone must be gawking at the mini

with every mac sold between now and jan 29 i think you will get it if you pay 14 stg for admin costs. for any mac bought after that it is included

iLife is iMovie, iDVD, iTunes (which is available for free download), iPhoto and Garage Band in one bundle. The whole point is they are all integrated. If you want to add some background music to a video you are editing in iMovie or to a slide show you are preparing in iPhoto, you can select a track from your iTunes library.

I know that clean installs of Panther give you the 'original' iLife apps. I can only presume that the Tiger DVD(s) will do the same.

I'm new to Macs. Does this mean that if I want iLife 05 I will have to buy it seperately?
If I thought it came as part of Tiger then I would wait because I have only dabbled with version 04 so far.

Yes, unless you (i) buy a new Mac now or (ii) wait for Tiger to hit the shops in a few months.

I'm not so sure as to the killer features of '05 over '04. HD isn't something many of us can yet afford, although the one-click DVDs and movies (in iDVD and iMovie resp.) are nice.

I keep reading iLife as "a Life".
