Laptop DVD issue

Hi,

Myself and the brother just bought a new laptop. Also, for Xmas I received Seinfeld series 1 and 2 on DVD. Only problem being that they are US region. Our DVD player at home doesn't play that region. However, I was happy out yesterday, to switch the region on my laptop DVD player, and watch them on that. However, upon telling this to a colleague in work, she informed me that she heard of a friend who switched his around a couple of times, and then got stuck with one region. I checked this out with another colleague who said he had heard something similar. Can anyone tell me, is there a definite life cycle with this kind of thing - ie, you can only change the players region a few times, before you stick with one? Any help appreciated. Thanks,.

You can only change the region on the player 5 times before it locks, but you can get software that will negate the need for this, as it does the work required. Do a serach on boards for region free software.

ANYDVD is a good region free software that runs in the background from startup
