Was looking at LG DVDRW Dual GSA-4163RBB OEM Black DVD+R/RW/DVD-R/RW/RAM

Or can anyone suggest a good dvdwriter that can be bought in dublin to avoid shipping?

I got the NEC equivalent just there on friday, also got a 25disc spindle of those eProformance 8x discs, wrote at 8x first time out... 7/8 minute dvd burn first time... install took about 4minutes

    can't complain

Looking at DVD 9 gb burners/media - the burners are now affordable - wtf is the media going to become affordable? (unless someone on boards works for TDK etc - we can consider this a rhetorical question  )

Would be the NEC ND3500, I'm guessing. Damn good drive, by all accounts, and pretty affordable now too.

I have one of the older, single layer NEC ND2500's and it's been of great service to me. I'd recommend them to anyone.

And, yes, do go for a dual-layer drive like the ND3500 or the Pioneer 108. Or is it 109? Not 100% sure. Just to be future-proof for when the media eventually comes down in price.

get the nec 3500 from komplett great writer , just give it good media , like taiyo yuden or verbatim , and you will never burn a coaster
have " backed up" nearly 200 dvds using verbatim and no coasters so far with the 3500 and verbatim combo

thats the only problem with NEC, they only sell to wholesaler's like KOMPLETT and computer manufacturers , so you will have to buy off komplett or one of the big uk online shops , thats where i got mine anyway , hope that helps
ps when u buy off komplett its just the drive , no software with it
