Does anyone know of any darts leagues or clubs that exist in Dublin? I'm keen to play but can't find a place to compete.

There is definitely a Darts league in Dublin.

My father plays in one on Wednesday nights, and I also know there is one on a Tuesday.

Word of warning though, it is quite clique-ey-ey.

there are alot of pub teams around. I play for my local pub in a league and its quite a high standard so check out your local pub and see if they have a team

When you say it's a high standard could you give me a rough idea of what an average league player tends to average over three darts? I want to make sure I'm up to scratch before I play.

My father averages about 80+ per 3 darts, nearly always one treble, sometimes not though.

He is fairly consistent, we are always telling him to go to better competitions and all, but he reckons he is too old and not consistent enough.

That's a decent average alright but when you say his average is 80 do you just mean his scoring average or his total average including shots at doubles? If he averages 80 including his doubles shots then that is a very high standard.

He is fairly consistent on the out shots too.

I've even seen him throw 170 outshots from time to time, and a 9 darter once at home.

I'd say he would be up to the competition level, but never went for it.

Off topic, he was also some boxer in his day, was called "The Dublin Cassius Clay" by the Evening Press back in the day, we have that framed in the house, and was supposed to be boxing in the Olympics for Ireland, but wouldn't go to the final qualification fights. My mam wouldn't let him :D  ah no, he never was one for the spotlight.

    80 is some average alright.

Big names like Alan Warriner and Peter Evison couldnt even manage to average 70 in their games at the World Championships recently!
