I was looking for a copy of Visual Studio .Net & I had a look on Ebay. There are a few academic versions available for a good price. (eg Item number: 7125909001)
Just wondering if anybody has the academic version and are all the features available? Seems like a good buy!

If you are a student or lecturer in university and the university has signed up for the msdn academic alliance licence you can get just about all operating systems, DBMS and dev tools published by microsoft for free. It only costs the uni about 800 yoyos a year so even if they don't have it now you could push them. I got Server 2003, XP pro, SQL server, .NET 2003 and a few other things for nothing.... You can even keep them after you finish uni as long as they're not used for commercial purposes.

If you're upgrading though watch out. I had VS.NET 2002 enterprise architect edition which came with Visio. When I wiped my machine (kind of a 6 monthly thing with me) I installed .NET 2003 but it didn't come with Visio and Visio won't install without detecting 2002!

    MS SQL server

    (/me gets horribly sick)

As for the original poster - I wouldn't get software over ebay - the chances of getting something illegal for close to the actual shop price is way too high. Buy it in a shop. Or just don't buy it at all.

To be honest I must agree about SQL Server. I've always done most of my work with Oracle 8/9i but I'm working with DotNetNuke at the moment and it only comes with SQL Server support at the mo........

Finished college over a year ago. Just wanted VS.Net so that I could brush up on my skills. A lot of jobs advertised require you to have knowledge of .net and I've none...
